Avs don't have the picks to make that move... they can only do the 4.2-6.3 offer sheet that has zero chance of working.
Unless someone offers him the Bobrovsky/Price contract I see no scenario where Dallas isn't matching anyway. Waste of time.

Rule number 1 on draft day, ufa Day 1 or trade deadline day, never believe anything until it's been confirmed by multiple credible sources.

The ufa and trade market are garbage. I’d rather roll with what we know and avoid trading away any more assets for what would likely be a lateral move at best.
So you'd rather risk losing depth up front and on defense? Kuemper at 6m for term makes things rather difficult going forward to keep the group together. You're staring right at ~55m for MacK, Rants, Landy, Makar, Toews/G, Byram and Kuemper... add in Nuke and you're basically looking at low to mid 20s to fill out the entire rest of the roster including a 2C.

If 6x6 or similar is the only option might as well go out and get Gibson imo
Yup... if you're paying market, get a guy who can be elite.

Here's what I know...

We won't have the luxury of Kadri as a 2C.

We won't have a 25 goal guy in Burakovsky as a complimentary piece.

We won't have a Manson who brings something that nobody else other than a healthy EJ brings.

I *know* our forwards and defense will not be as deep next season, so we need to improve in the area that we sucked the most in; goaltending. Kuemper was 23rd of 24 goalies who faced a shot in the playoffs in most statistical categories. He's a f***ing sieve.

Pony up, bring in a good goaltender that offsets the losses of our depth, and give this team the best chance at winning more Cups.

Kuemper, on a bigger contract and behind a weaker team, is not going to get job done.

The last time Gibson had a better season than Kuemper was 17-18. We'd be giving up assets for a worse goalie on effectively the same contract.

Maybe they can send JTC to Anaheim to reacquire the 2023 2nd...
JTC isn't worth a 2nd, but Anaheim wouldn't want him anyway.

Gibson is significantly better than Kuemper... don't fall into the stats trap....

Chychrun is a good #2-3 guy. I'd say you trade Chychrun + 32 + 34 for #2 and feel good about it if you're Arizona.
I think Chychrun is fine, hell, I've wanted him on the Avs. However, some of these rumours and deals you hear about him, you'd think he was a lot more proven or dominant than he actually has been. Guy has scored over 30 points once, isn't a terrifying defensive presence like a Chara or Weber, and it's like we were talking about with Anderson yesterday - more of a hope he puts it together type than anything.
