Dave Pagnotta just said on SiriusXM that Joe Sakic told the Blackhawks during the season "if he is willing to move, give us a call" regarding Patrick Kane.

And then Pagnotta says Kane is definitely gone and he'll be traded with 50% retention.

I'm trying to keep calm about this " Allright Homer, calm down" but having Kane here would be awesome. A luxury for sure. Doesn`t really help with the center position depth but I'd still take it.

Kane solves the 2C hole by simply existing. He doesn't need a good Center to still be ridiculously effective.

Hook + 1st is a premium package. You don't blow that on a 34-year-old winger. The return must be a long-term fix, #2C looking at the Avs roster situation.

Very unpopular. Bo Byram has #1D written all over him in the mould of Duncan Keith and I've said it since he got drafted. Some have said he plays like Scott Niedermayer and I don't disagree with that, either.

You don't move players like Byram. You keep him for as long as possible.

You're trading a guy who should be a good 2D for a low end two way 1C. Value is roughly equivalent. Neither team does that though.

He's a points leach. Remember how people were complaining that Burakovsky wasn't impactful enough? Take Bura, but scratch out his speed, add a dosage of passive floating and you've got the makings of Dylan Strome.

He'll put up points on bad teams the same way a guy like Sam Gagner always did.
