Only two moves I would have liked were Copp or Trocheck, and they would have been expensive and seemed to want to go where they wanted to go

People are forgetting about Brad Hunt
Also Anton Blidh. Assuming that he will have a good chance to win a spot in the opening day lineup.

We also have Ben Meyers who was not part of our playoff run.

All pieces around the edges, true, but we will have some new blood competing for spots.

There aren’t any good options, some of the moves I’ve seen proposed are so short sighted and desperate. Avs are still fine, I’d much rather they have that open cap space to accrue more if it through the season than spend it on spare parts that you’re desperately hoping fill a need.

As much as it would be great to get MacKinnon signed, if they think they can get the price down a bit by waiting all power to them.

I thought I was a pessimist, but boy, do I seem like an optimist compared to some folks around here.

We honestly might as well sit out next season. Can't lose the cup if you don't play sort of thing.

Most prospect rating places have a cut off of NHL games. Bo is at 49 NHL games, so he's likely to fall under a lot of those by a hair. Pronman has his as 22 and under (which I vastly prefer) so Bo will be on there another year.
Technically, our cutoff is 65 games, but I counted playoff games as well, and that puts him at 69 GP total, and then I counted him as graduated.

Something tells me he won't be back.
So the player is not paid on the substance abuse program? What kind of program is that? Go play in Europe we don't want to deal with that.

He'll be back in the NHL at some point, but it might be a year or two. Feel for the kid... he's had a rough go.

This is just falling under that program. Columbus is letting him play close to his family this year. In doing so, they basically put his contract on hold for a year and free him up to play in Switzerland.

Yeah everyone has it slightly different... more or less the point is that we know Byram is a graduated prospect as long as he is healthy. Though, personally, I despise only looking at prospects... U23 is far more important to an organization's future. If you roll through and graduate players early, teams get punished in that outlook (really only die hard fans care). Just silly that rankings are hurt when you have a great young player that makes the NHL early when they are still a huge part of the future.

According to the main boards he had two deaths in his family this year and does want to stay near his family.
So it's not substance abuse? Or both?

On a side note, Columbus can't catch a break.

There's a 23 year old Cup-winning, Conn Smythe-winning, Norris-winning, Hobey Baker-winning, Calder-winning defenseman to choose from, but eh....naaaaaah. Let's go with the guy who did that neat flippy move once

Trolled us all the way to the cup. Legend.
F’n PITA reading that all of the time though, especially while ragdolling the opposition. Avs were scary good. The real opposition was injuries though. Fortunately they won the SCC but it was close on the injuries. A reminder that you have to be lucky to win the SC no matter how good you are.

Not to mention a Hockey Canada jersey. Given the current scandal and public distaste of Hockey Canada, i'm kinda shock they kept that in.
