I wouldn't say that... if Chychrun is healthy, he's a very, very good #2D. Some will argue #1D. If they can get him for 2 mid 1sts, that's a steal. If it takes 2 1sts and a B/B+ prospect... meh, high.. but worth it. The risk with Chychrun isn't his play, it is his health.
Also only signed for 3 seasons. That appears like a lot at first glance but it's not that much for a team like the Sens who aren't even in their window yet. They'll end up either paying him big bucks or losing him just when it starts to matter to have good contracts.

I think it's an overpayment but I'm all for them getting him, I think he could push them in the playoffs next season.

I think a healthy Chychrun could open their window. Gives them 2 legit guys to anchor the top 4 pairings to go along with a really nice forward group (goaltending is a major question, but they aren't really tied up there). They can also afford his next contract... they aren't tied up in anything messy and he becomes a core guy that you structure your cap situation around.

Capfriendly says he's a LD/RD. I don't know if he played RD with the Yotes and if so, how good he was on the right side but the Sens really need him to be a RD, especially if Zaitsev is going the other way.

Chabot, Sanderson and Brannstrom are all LD. On the right side they only have Hamonic and Zub, which obviously sucks.

If Chychrun can play RD, a top pairing of Chabot and Chychrun would be pretty damn legit. Sanderson has a pretty high ceiling too.

At least two firsts from a non-contending team for some guy who looks alright for the league's perennial loser franchise. Take it and run.

He can play RD, but I prefer him on the left. It would be some combination of Chabot, Chych, Sanderson, and Zub in the top 4... which isn't elite, but good... could be very good if Sanderson transitions well. Brannstrom should be trade bait... he's never going to have a high impact there.

I like Zub

Reminds me of how Audi thought etron was a good name… apparently Germans don’t know French.
They can't sell that one in Quebec. That translates to "Audi Turd"...who would buy that?

Anything with "cross" in the name doesn't look good either, which is pretty bad because plenty of car makers are using that for their crossovers. Corolla Cross, Eclipse Cross, etc.

Cross is prononced the same as "crosse" and it's slang for jerking off or getting ripped off. Imagine having that in the name of your car.

No 80 point player since Kovalev is insanity

That's a crazy statistic. Granted for many of those years, the NHL was a very different league than it was last season. Only 5-10 players across the whole league would reach 80 points per season. Hell, do you remember that Jamie Benn led the league in scoring in 2014-15 with a grand total of 87 points?

The thing is Ottawa has plenty of assets and prospects, but those assets also have timers and they need to be put into a position to succeed.

LA is in that limbo spot right now - they're a team trending upwards and just made the playoffs, but they have a bunch of prospects knocking at the door and many will have to pass through waivers. This year it's JAD, Andersson, Vilardi, Grundstrom. Next year it's Fagemo, Kupari, Madden, Thomas. Year after that it's Turcotte, Byfield, and Kaliyev.

Overpaying is a bit subjective imo, and it's still not the worst thing if it's prospects and assets that aren't going to get a realistic chance to succeed.

Obviously a lot can happen in the interim, but I've been assuming that as long as the Wild can navigate their salary cap hell over the next three seasons that they will be the ones to knock us off when our top forwards start to age out.* And I'm not going to like it because it's the Wild and it will be as disgusting as it was in 2003 and it will cause me to throw up in my mouth a bit.

* - unless we can find a way to clone Hart Trophy winner Cale Makar

Somewhat surprising but when you look back at what a shoddy job Bergevin did, it’s not really shocking. He’ll go down as one of the all-time worst. A shame he just headed over to LA and got a cush gig not five minutes after he got fired in Montreal.
