I dunno man...he's just so exceptionally smooth and deceptive. Guys his size aren't supposed to do the things he's doing on a nightly basis.

I could be wrong, he could actually stay hot and be consistent every year, but it feels like he might actually regress next year and mainly because I don't trust Buffalo to be consistently a good team.

He's never been a ppg player before. His highest total was last year with 68 pts in 78 games - .871 pts/game. It's safe to say at this time that this year is an outlier. That's not to say he can't continue on this torrid pace and be a consistent ppg player, but his history suggests he could well regress.

That's what people thought would happen with him this year. The opposite happened.

His goal today is very Tage Thompsonesque: great hands, giant reach, goal.

We shall see!

Every star player has their breakout season at some point. Obviously the pace he's on now is pretty ridiculous, so if his point totals drops next year that won't be a huge surprise. Selfishly though I hope this is the player we get for the rest of his career. He's just so much fun to watch.

It really sucks that the Sabres got 8 straight losses in November otherwise they'd be in the middle of the playoff race in the east.

They'd absolutely make the playoffs in the west.

Did you guys know that Bergeron is a big Sakic and Forsberg fan? And I believe he said he was an Avs fan also. Heard him say that in an interview the other day on TNT

Makes sense, he grew up in Quebec city as a Nords fan.

Yea. I hear that. I don't wish a regression on him. He seems unorthodox to be doing what he is, so I kind of want that to continue. But on the other side of a star player breakout year coin is just a career year.

Yup, but I believe he also said he didn't like it at first when Quebec moved to Colorado but he also became an Avs fan. I may have heard wrong, but I think that's what he said

Yea, he has listed Sakic as a role model for him while he was growing up. I really wish we could have convinced Bergeron to join the Avs, he’s one of my favourite players and just so damn smart when he’s out there

Bergeron 2C behind MacKinnon making 2.5 mill. What could have been better?

McDavid has 72 points in 37 games

This is Mario Lemieux territory.
The only thing Mackinnon has on Mcdavid now is he has a better slapshot. McDavid is a better scorer, passer, skater etc. Its too bad Edmonton has no idea how to build a team around him.

I don't think it's possible for Thompson to score an ugly goal
Shut up

Hes not on a hot streak. Hes simply this good and it started last year. Guy had 36-37 goals? Hes just figured it out and what hes figured out is hes bigger and more skilled than 90% of the people defending him in this league.

No chance. He was doing this last year. This is just an extension from
his breakout last year.

Ovi with his signature shot for his 25th. Does anyone have any doubt that he would have already had the record if not for 3 lockouts and a pandemic?
Quick maths:

Lockout 04-05: 82 games lost
Lockout 12-13: 34 games lost
Pandemic: 39 games lost

Total: 155 games lost

Ovi: 806 goals in 1313 games for 0.613 gpg

0.613 X 155 = 95 goals missing (probably a bit more since he was in his prime during the lockouts with a slightly higher gpg)

I think it's safe to say he'd have ~100 more goals without those things assuming that he'd have stayed healthy.
