Yikes. Jake Allen right now:

To quote the Canucks board:

This guy comes off sounding like a miserable piece of shit.

Lmao the guy is going to run Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes out of town, just watch. Unless Canucks ownership steps in before it's too late and trades this guy for pennies on the dollar in an effort to get rid of the cancer in the locker room.

I wonder who gets named captain when Horvat is traded

Canucks ownership is the reason he’s signed long-term in the first place. If management had their say he’d be gone by now.

They'd probably give him away for free.

I mean he could solve our 2C issue this season but we'd have to find a way to trade him in the offseason. Not an easy thing to do with that contract and a full NMC.

I don't think he'd wreck our locker room, especially if he's only staying for a playoff run and with Mack in there. You don't want to be the team on the hook for the 7 X 8M contract though. Yikes.

I don’t see much difference between what Mack has done and what millers done. Remember the Zadorov incidents, the bednar etc. optically with no in-site into either locker rooms. And that is what I base it on, by and large he’s the scale goat. I could only imagine Mack under the microscope in vancover.

I have no issue with either player

MacKinnon has never done what Miller did.

Not only that, but MacKinnon is so much better than Miller where if he is being a douche, there is a tiiiny bit of leeway. Miller has not been good this year and he is still doing this

The "Zadorov incident"? Are you refering to the chickpea pasta thing?

At one point he's going to be too old right? RIGHT?!

I think MacKinnon's hotheadedness is kind of kept in check by Landeskog's influence. It's kind of a yin and yang thing where the sharp edges of MacK's personality get smoothed out by Landy's coolness. Remember it was Landeskog who was calming MacKinnon down when he was yelling at Bednar.

Having a highly competitive guy leading the locker room can be a good thing; it pushes other people to be better. But I think if MacKinnon was the only guy in the room it would get old fast, you need somebody with a strong influence balancing it out.

Vancouver doesn't seem to have that dynamic, and Miller strikes me as more of just an asshole than hypercompetitive. That locker room is broken beyond repair, and moving Horvat and turning the room over to Miller will likely make things much worse in the medium term.

No when he was screaming at him for his imperfect passes.
A lot different than screaming at your goalie to get the f*** off the ice and then swinging your stick at the net to get your point across.

MacKinnon has also seemingly learned to tone it down over the years. Miller seems to be getting worse by the year.

Remember, good players aren't moved for no reason. He's been traded by NYR and Tampa Bay and now seems to be ruining his rep in Vancouver.

"he screamed at me in practice once because I missed him with a pass" is not comparable to the multi-year meltdown the awful dressing room the Canucks obviously have. It's bad enough when you get clowns on the main board who think MacKinnon is a lunatic and the team wins in spite of him terrorising everyone Full Metal Jacket style, can we have a bit more perspective here? It's been long enough to know MacKinnon is a good teammate and positive influence.

I agree. It wasn't long ago that Mack was full on yelling at Bednar on the bench, it's just how dudes like Miller and Mack are wired.

I feel like yelling at the coach is really different than yelling at a team mate during a game.
Mack yells at his teammates all the time? I mean the hitting the net with the stick is a bit extreme, but Mack yells at teammates all the time during games for bad passes, shots, etc.

Also yelling at your teammates mid game is like, not remotely a problem at all for me. I feel like that happens all the time at every level of sports.

It's not a problem until it is a problem. We saw Luke Schenn earlier this season conftont Miller as the Canucks were leaving the ice at the intermission because he wouldn't stop yelling at his teammate.

The guy is a psychopath.

That I agree with. But that goes back to McMetals point. If Mack was the only leader in the locker room there's a chance he'd be a problem. Miller doesn't have a Landy to even out his hyper competitiveness.

There’s already a HUGE difference between what Miller did recently and what MacKinnon did on the bench with Bednar. MacKinnon publicly apologized for the incident and admitted the embarrassing fallout left him rattled. He hasn’t come close to doing that since. Miller flippantly dismissed any criticism in about the douchiest way possible.

I remember MacK yelling at guys in practice, but I can't remember him doing that during a game.

Is it really hyper competitiveness, though? At some point we have to differentiate.

Watch Miller when he plays. He is not a hyper competitive battler. He slacks off on D, he doesn't back check, he coasts when he turns pucks over. He's a mope. But god forbid someone do something that he perceives as wrong? Watch out, here comes the mad man.

The fans on the Canucks board had a great contrast: Ryan Kesler. Basically the same person attitude wise. The difference is Kesler was given leeway to be a dick because he always went 110% no matter the game or time. He was a bit TOO competitive, but teammates loved it on the ice and gave him a pass for being an asshole.

Miller is not that guy. He's just a douche.

What would you do as Montreal? Keep bedard and trade 2 for quite a package?

I mean part of it is I'm sure. I'm not saying Miller isn't a douche. He is a douche. Just that it's amplified due to the off ice issues and roster construction in Vancouver.
