That's not how things work lol it's not HIS decision lol.At this point they should just ask the kid if he wants to go. Really isn't complicated.

Robbing ? come one !I understand hes a NHl player and all but robbing a player of a WJC appearance and potential medal is disgusting. I'd personally be very mad.
Every players best memory is SCF -> WJC gold -> Kid being born
It isn't 100% but asking an 18 year old if he'd like to represent his country can only be positive for the relationship for both parties. I think it's a no brainer but hey, it's just my oponion. That's not how things work lol it's not HIS decision lol.
If they want him to play at the WJC it will be because they think it’s best for his development and it won’t be an “ask”.It isn't 100% but asking an 18 year old if he'd like to represent his country can only be positive for the relationship for both parties. I don't understand this obsession with the WJC. I thought that when you play in the Olympic games and at the WC you have graduated from the junior stuff.
He's playing 10 min a night on the 4th line with Pezzetta and Evans. I doubt he's worried about losing his spot on the lineup.Agreed and he probably talked to Kirby about his last WJC experience
I doubt Slaf will leave the team, when you relinquish a spot on the starting roster you never know when you’ll be back in. Real WC or Olympics ok but junior stuff not sure what’s the point.
It's not like he's wasting his time playing on the fourth line, as long as the Habs are winning some games. Evans is better than any forward on the Slovakian junior team and Pezz too, probably. He's playing 10 min a night on the 4th line with Pezzetta and Evans. Representing one's country internationally never gets old...I don't understand this obsession with the WJC. I thought that when you play in the Olympic games and at the WC you have graduated from the junior stuff.

I hope he goes to the WC after his season with the Habs, to represent his country which he loves so much. But he's playing at the highest level right-now and he doesn't look out of place. Habs would lose more often without him.Representing one's country internationally never gets old...
And Slaf definitely appears to be the type of athlete who revels in the opportunity.
The senior level events are the pinnacle, to be sure, but having played "up" doesn't diminish the appeal to don the national

Exactly.Stutzle was around 1.95/60 in his 1st 20 games.
This is a feel out season for Slaf to see what kind of pace the NHL has. He's making gains and gaining confidence a little bit each game. You can see it. The real evaluation for me comes when he is 19 next season after he has one season under his belt. I think that's when we start to see his real potential

Management suggested he focus on training hard for the NHL camp instead of going to the WJC so that's what he did. Now he's in game shape.Slaf did not go to WJC in August when no NHL games where played.
Why he would go now?
I don't see Slafkovsky losing his spot to Pezetta.I doubt Slaf will leave the team, when you relinquish a spot on the starting roster you never know when you’ll be back in.
I think that the word was that Slafkovsky had just had a very busy year and would thus benefit from a break.Slaf did not go to WJC in August when no NHL games where played.
