NHL or AHL isn’t the right spot to learn to play with your head up. Send him to juniors tournament. Can he be sent down to the CHL?

Slaf is on a 28 point pace playing almost exclusively 4th line minutes with dudes who literally can't score. Not bad for a project 1OA. It's not a joke, he literally looks better every game.
He’s also playing against the very same caliber players he’s playing with. The numbers are fine, there’s nothing good or bad to pull from them imo.

I think it's pretty obvious that Slaf is used to being the biggest guy on the ice and isn't too concerned about the physicality of his peers. He really needs to be more aware on the ice, but it's not really something a guy his size will learn in junior sadly.

That's the absolute truth, he doesn't keep his head up because he never had to before. He was always a man among boys. But he's playing against men now, and men that hit to hurt. I don't think the Chicago player (name escapes me at the moment) threw a dirty hit there, Slaf was extended and reaching so it looked "high", but he shouldn't keep putting himself into those positions.

In all honesty, I was pretty disappointed with the reaction (or lack thereof) from any of the Habs players. Pezz kind of tried to drop the gloves, but never materialized. Anderson barked but otherwise did nothing. I know they wanted to win, but taking care of someone that hurt one of your top assets should also be a high priority. Especially for those guys that are paid to take care of their teammates.

The truth is closer to Slaf flying into the Chicago player rather than Dickinson seeking out Slaf.

He isn't going to learn to keep is head up in Jr and it probably isn't a good thing to try to learn in the NHL, the AHL is a bit more Physical than the NHL and the speed is lower it should be the best place to learn especially with more ice time and responsibility.

Lehkonen got two concussions in his draft year. Some people are overreacting. He's going to learn.
One of the reason Lehk fell to the second round...
Not sure we want to down play or see concussion has part of the learning process... If you make to the NHL chances are you already have multiple smaller concussion to start with...

So were shrugging off concussions now? It can literally ruin a player. 2nd or 3rd dangerous hit hes taken in not even 20 games. Hes too green.
You think he couldn't get hit like that in the AHL?

He has to work on his peripheral vision and general awareness on the ice.

The problem is that he never had to do that before as he was usually the biggest guy on the ice.

It's all part of his development.

He could get reck in the AHL but if you have to work on awareness doing it at a lower speed might help… if concussions are part of the development the end result might not be what we expected…

Well hopefully he's a fast learner cuz they're clearly decided that they'll develop him in the NHL.

Probably that's the main reason he's always on the fourth line, they microdevelop the kid.

I don't know if that's a word but what I was trying to say is that they go over each of his shifts/minute/second on the ice and try to fix stuff.

Concussions derailed Joel Armia’s career before it even took off.
Armia's problem is that he doesn't have a second or third speed in himself whatsoever.

Sometimes he's at -1 speed even...

You'd put Gallagher's determination and will in that Armia body and you'd have a player that would wreck the league!

Has it been confirmed if Slaf has received a concussion from playing in the NHL as of yet?
Zero registered concussions my friend! That huge neck works as a stabilizer!
