Rantanen didn't play his age 18 season or 19 season but his age 20 season was 38 pts with 20 goals in 75 games. I think Rantanen is a good comparable and it's very possible Slaf has a similar age 18 season to Rantanen's age 20 season.

Rantanen did play 9 games as a 18 year old though (Oct 29th birthdate... basically his age 19 season due to birthdate one month into the season). 0 pts and a -7.
It would not surprise me if Slafkovsky would put up similar stats to Rantanen at 20 yrs old. Though I've found myself not really paying attention to his stats. I'm more focused on paying attention to things like his decision making. Or besides the hit, his increased physicality.

With his decision making, I see a lot less confusion. He seems to be getting more comfortable, so his actions and reactions are more natural.

Hope this incident doesn’t bring the Latendresse Syndrome onto our kid. After hitting Rob Dimaio on a blindside check that ended the latter’s career practically, Latendresse was never the same in his physicality.
I believe Dimaio was concussed? I would feel much more guilt concussing someone and ending his career than causing a broken wrist. I would simply adjust my game not to be suspended again.

Yup. I do like how he is adjusting to the time/space area. Not worried about that hit. It can happen to anybody and if he hit someone who was more experience and situational aware, the result is different.

He will have to learn from this hit as well. Picking your spots on when to be offensive, defensive, shoot vs pass, and to hit or not to hit is all part of development.

Thought Andy's was definitely worse, thought maybe 1 game, he got 2
This was more of a bad shove, the kid clearly didnt expect a 240 pound bump from behind , but I'm surprised Slaf still followed through a bit lol
Thought he was adequately punished, so itll probably be 1 game lol bah
He was playing a great match too

What's weird is the result of both plays, Andy's hit way worse, Pietrangelo gets up RIGHT away and its 3 vs 1
Slaf bumps, the guy looks in TERRIBLE and I mean terrible shape, out 10-12 weeks, it's a shame, oh well, get better soon bud

Guillaume Latendresse, when he was still a raw rookie, has ended the career of a player ( DiMaio ????) with an untimely, blind sided hit. And it had an impact with his play after that. He remained afraid to hit and injure other players.

We all knew it would take time for him to adjust to the NHL sized rinks. What has impressed me is the improvements he's made in such a short period of time. The transformation obviously isn't complete. Though I'm confident the positive progress we've seen, will continue.

I'm not too worried about the hit. But I'd be lying if I said the Latendresse situation didn't pop into my mind. Due to both being such young, impressionable players.

The other kid is out 10-12 weeks. Official. Broken wrist.

When do we meet the Wings again? Slaf will be challenged. Meaning he will have to defend himself and/or have his bodyguard 72 with him on the ice at all times.
Well thank frig it has nothing to do with his head, neck etc.

He needs to learn how to dance, and Wifi can teach him. And I mean how to cover up, take a few glancing blows and then that's it.

He better some boxing lessons and quick. He will have to answer, I am sure.
Haha, by who?!? The Wings don't have any tough guys, at least not any fighters.
They have some big trees, now, but none are fighters. Ras and Soderblom are too of the most non-physical, non-confrontational guys in the NHL despite their giant status. Sunny doesn't fight. Chiarot??

They have one "goon-type" player in the entire organization, Givani Smith, but he's not very good at fighting and he's terrible at hockey, so he's never in the NHL lineup. I don't think he has suited up for any games yet this year for Detroit.

The only guy on the team that is really willing to fight is Erne and he's terrible at it. His giant head is too big of a target and the other guy just tees off on that baby hippo sized head of his.

Slaf doesn't have anything to worry about.

Hockey IQ is a big part. It appears he has a good head on his shoulders and he's got a good teacher in MSL... as well as other youth who can help him on our roster as well.

I like this direction. He has not come in right away and dominated but that is rare today in the NHL. If he continues to learn and adapt, he's going to be a very important piece for our team

I mean, Slaf has 0 career fights. Pretty sure he doesnt want to toss em with old Ben.

Luff was injured. I am expecting 5 games. The mentally incompetent fool running DOPS has no idea the difference in hits. He will just use length of injury to base the penalty.

Wings fan here. Slaf will not be challenged unless he gets all mouthy to the press saying he made Luff famous and shit.
