Detroit is saying Luff is going to be out at least a month if not more after being boarded from behind by Slaf.

So I'm guessing a suspension for Slaf is very likely. Although I doubt it's more than 2 games.
He'll be back soon and this will be a good learning experience for him.

If Luff is really injured that much he’ll get more than just a game. Seriousness of the injury is part of the disciplinary equation.

He barely hit him though, it was more like a push...
I'm with you on that. It wasn't forceful, but it was on the numbers, with an opponent in a vulnerable position. The play was avoidable and the result was unfortunate. I think in a perfect world the call on the ice is sufficient

This is his first interaction with DoPS. The expectation is that he's got a long career ahead of him. I suspect they want to give him something. To give him nothing, they may think that would be setting a bad example

I see a lot of assumptions and wishful thinking. Just admit you have BLIND FAITH in the new guys Molson hired — it’s fine if you do, but don’t dress it up in factoids.

I don’t want Slaf in the AHL btw, not sure where you pulled that out from.

Haha. It's not assumptions and wishful thinking. It's context replying to what you said. I trust what Gorton/Hughes/MLS are doing. You appear like you don't and are saying others have their blinders on cause they are new and exciting. That's comical. I dislike the optimistic vs pessimistic narratives. Stupid game. Take your BLIND FAITH narrative somewhere else.

You basically think you know what is better for development as a fan more than actual NHL Management. The comment where you said you didn't trust MSL to develop Slaf well cause he is a rookie coach is golden. This is not Duchame bud.

The AHL narrative was presented with a "if" word. It has meaning and I can't control your comprehension on it.

You think you are providing construction criticism when it's really complaining with ignorance.

It was a harmless hit but because it was made a few feet from the boards, it ended up badly. This can happen to any player trying to hit someone. Very difficult line to balance and the ones that balance it well are not hitters.

Totally different than the Anderson hit IMO. Distance traveled and speed to make the hit is not the same.

I'm not 100% on that. I think if Pietrangelo got hurt, Anderson's suspension would be more cause it was more violent. So in that case, you are correct.

Slaf's hit is a result of how far Luff was from the boards. He was not skating as fast or traveled as much distance to hit Luff vs the Anderson hit.

I'll be surprised if Slaf gets suspended. However, it's the Habs and the Ref's gave Larkin two penalty shots in the same play last night. So I guess I won't be surprised if they suspend Slaf

The Anderson hit was more reckless and predatory but the end result was much less serious.

That's because Pietrangelo is stronger than Luff. If Slaf hit Pietrangelo in the same situation, Pietrangelo probably doesn't fall as easily.

Anderson's hit was dangerous. Luff was the dumb dumb for not being situational aware but that responsibility/liability will fall on Slaf cause that's the trend the NHL is heading towards.

Luff is injured so he's definitely getting suspended.

Tricky one. I felt he deserved the 5 and a game but it was not violent at all. Not even close to the Anderson hit IMO. It was due to the distance from the boards and it's a player (Luff) that is not really that situational aware as other NHL players. Slaf did hit him from behind but I feel he got the deserved 5 and a game.

Curious to see how the NHL manages this one.

Luff is a bad lucker. At the end of october puck hit him into the mouth. Damaged teeth and sixteen stitches.

IMO it looked to me like Slafkovsky was putting his arm out to help stop his own momentum as well as just to simply get a hand on the guy. Luff stopped suddenly, his body leaned over and was off balance. It was just unlucky circumstances and not malicious. Slafkovsky looked shocked when the guy went down. He might have been able to avoid this, but he clearly didn't intend to do it. A forceful shove looks totally different from what he did.
I hope he doesn't get a suspension.

There's a poster, @Goldenhands , who was mocked for listing Wright as the 10th best player in the draft. It will be quite ironic if that ranking ends up having overestimated Wright.
I know the mocking. As of today there are at least 20 players who would go before Wright in a re-draft. Are there any Canadiens fans who would draft Wright over Mesar? Beck? Or even Hutson? I really hope that the kid turns out. But I’m very glad that his development or lack thereof is not our problem.

Like guys... he saw the numbers for 3 Mississippis and he followed through it while the player was in a very vulnerable spot.

I swear some of you would defend Mitchell Miller if he was a Hab.

I'd give him one game. Contrary even to Anderson, the guy had his back the whole time. Slaf has to know better.

I think that could happen to anybody. Anderson's hit was more violent and he hit a savvy player in Pietrangelo who is more physically strong as well. Luff as a depth player is not situational aware as Pietrangelo is and Slaf got caught into that. This could have happened to Suzuki or anybody. It's a shitty situation and yeah, they should let up but how much do you let up? You can even just bump the player a little bit and his injury depends on how he falls towards the boards.

If Luff was closer to the boards and Slaf hit him the same (he did let up slightly), we likely are not talking about it today.

1 game? We will see. I think the difference between Anderson and Slaf's hit is more than a 1 game difference. Luff gets injured so it's different? We will see

I think it's instructive to look at how the different sets of opposing players reacted to the Anderson and Slaf hits. They went nuts on Anderson and barely looked at Slaf. The players know which hit was bad and which looked more like an accident. One game.

There's an alternate universe right now where Wright has 3 goals in 10 games
And Slaf is 6mins a game and healthy scratches and his handful of haters are beating their chests..
Can you imagine what it's like over there right now lol?

I'm happy to be in THIS one, even tho here Drouin is retiring at 28, but over there he's an 80 point player lol

Also, what a GOON Slaf is eh lmao, I was wondering if in his post game interview he'd be like "yeah! And Rossi? You're NEXT pal"

It's not that serious my guy.

It's a contact sport, these things happen.

Man you've been racking up the Ls.

Players have the responsibility to protect themselves and other players, its not 1920 anymore. There is no scenario in which this hit is a safe hit to give.

What his injury is matters. Someone suggested it could be instead of a concussion a facial reconstruction. Well he just came back from another facial reconstruction, it’s not Slaf’s fault if his face was already mashed potato before the hit.

Ls at what? lol

Where did I say it was a safe hit?

He got called for a major and he's got an audience with the league. he'll get a game or two and we'll all move on.

I'm not sure why you introduced Mitchell Miller into the discussion.

And then tell me i'm taking Ls?

You're making parallels with a guy making a bad hit in the heat of the action, with a lunatic who physically and racially abused a kid for years.

Get a hold of yourself man.

Wild world we live in:laugh:
