He's not going to get suspended Parros will let it slide for an 18-year-old Hulk that learns the league and his body limits.
AFAIK causing an injury through illegal play is always a suspension. Intent would just make it worse.

Galchenyuk was not rushed. Until he blew (?) his rehab almost 5 years after he was drafted, he was progressing to the point where at 22, he was a regular center putting up 1.0 ppg.

I forgot about deLaRose, but again he was not even a first round pick, never mind a 1OA. They wanted to find an Eller replacement, since Lars was headed toward more expensive years, and they did not see Eller as a 2C.

Rather than say for sure that he was "rushed", I'm thinking more that had they simply used DLR in a Jake Evans role (4C) to start and let him advance to 3C with time, they yo-yo'd him, alternately expecting top offence in the AHL and top defence in the NHL.

Certainly deLaRose was not a success for the management and coaches at that time.
I disagree here. At no point in time was I convinced Galchenyuk was a regular center. I remember arguing with hf on the daily about that. He was way overhyped and the skill set ability never matched the hype.

But he was right about picking Slaf over Wright. He never said Slaf will be a future HOF. Doesn't matter how his career ends. He made a prediction about the draft and he was spot on.
No he wasn’t. The jury is still out on that and will be for a few years.

Uhhhhh, no it isn't. Last I checked, Slaf was most certainly picked 1OA.

Lmao, whether it was the right decision will take years to know. Sorry to burst your bubble.
You need to learn to read because the conversation was about Grant being right on who would be picked first. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Zero intent by Slaf. But still warrants a suspension. Need to keep your eyes on the player and the moment a player shows you their numbers facing the boards, you gotta lay off. I will say though (and please don't shout victim blaming) that all players need to be aware of their surroundings. Especially in Anderson's case, I felt that the lead up to the hit was coming well before the numbers were shown. Pietro shouldn't have turned his back. But more egregious, Anderson should have layed off. What I am trying to say is this is part of hockey. Shit like this will always happen and both players (the one doing the hit more) have a responsibility here.

As for a Slaf suspension. I'm good with it. He can watch from the sidelines for a couple of games. Come back hungry to play again. These little breaks are okay for him through the year, as it will be by far the most hockey he has played.

BehindTheTimes's a good reader actually, but a general issue on this forum is that people just write "he" and it's not necessarily clear who "he" is without clucking back in the quote button ten times.

Yes, but unlike Mackenzie, who only reported what scouts thought, Grant made the case that Slafkovsky SHOULD be the number one pick over Shane Wright. So it is true that we need a few years to see whether that is Wrong or Wright.

I would suggest that in a few years the burning question may well be if Wright warranted being selected in the first round let alone 1 OA. Go to the Krakken board and read what their anxious fans are saying as the aura of the prevailing consensus is being stripped away: bit by bit.

Once again, he played around 90 games on three different continents last year, so this is definitely not BY FAR most hockey.

Look you position is that don’t think that him asking is a possibility, if he did it you would be worried and wouldn’t let him go…
My position is that's not something an 18yr old rookie goes to his GM to ask.

I don't think that's how things work.
My position is that I’m willing to entertain the possibility that he might ask and that if is that If he ask to go, I would let him go…

99.9999999% chance that he isn’t going, I don’t even want him to go. I just don’t see any of the down side if he did.
I'd rather not look at things as "there's no downside".

I'd rather know "what's the upside?"

And personally, I don't see any.

But fair enough, I respect your position and recognize a lot of people feel the same way.

Jesus you're still arguing about the WJC? How long can you people argue over and over about a subject?
It always amazes me that people are surprised by people debating things on a message board designed to debate.

It's like tuning into a hockey game and wondering how long these guys are going to be skating for.

The hit MIGHT have been penalty worthy, but I don't think it has the maliciousness for a suspension. Anderson's hit was more predatory. This one was closer to the one Slaf was on the receiving end of a few games ago. I'm not sure what the league would be trying to deter: "don't ever pursue the puck carrier, he might slow down".

We actually see Slafkovsky trying to slow down when the player slowed down with the puck bouncing around his feet.

But you never know with this league. Same one that did not suspend Myers for clearly going after Armia, and we won't even talk about the decisions in the Colin Campbell era.

There's a poster, @Goldenhands , who was mocked for listing Wright as the 10th best player in the draft. It will be quite ironic if that ranking ends up having overestimated Wright.

Thought he played super well yesterday. Too bad he may get suspended. Part of the learning curve I guess.

He's so much more confident with the puck. His forechecking has improved 100-fold since the start of camp. You can see defenders hesitate when he's approaching them. He's also been intercepting some passes.

I can't believe how much he's learned in just 10 nhl games.

Also, have you noticed defenders have started to give him space when he's in possesion of the puck in motion? At the start of season, defenders were cutting his space and challenging him immediately. Now they're focusing on positional play to cut his lanes. That's a fantastic sign.

I think he gets a game. It was on the numbers the whole way. Pretty much exactly the hit that the stop signs on minor hockey jerseys are intended to prevent. The very first thing they tell you NOT to do.

I think it was just a case of him being a lot bigger and stronger, and Luff being off balance.

I hope any supplemental discipline doesn't deter him from being aggressive

He barely hit him though, it was more like a push...
