Can't say I've ever seen a double play where the fielders are taking their time and still manage to throw out the runner at first with time to spare. Man, Kirk is slow.

Now, notice how I criticize his foot speed without childishly making fun of his weight?
Never waste an opportunity to plug "Save The Whales"

Need to swep the Orioles with the Red Sox playing the Rays and Mariners playing the Astros.

But I'm sure Charlie will throw away a game and say something like: "we won two out of three, we're happy, there's no easy games".

You're playing Baltimore... No excuses.

Not surprised. Its always been a very tough division. 2 teams that buy titles and another that churns out more players than probably anyone else(TB). I realise the Ray's weren't around in the 80's but they're a threat every year. Even some of those Ricciardi teams were decent and couldn't even come close to sniffing the playoffs.
It was Detroit that finished 1st in 1987, they started the season with a 35-5 record and even though the Blue Jays were slightly better than Detroit for most of the season they couldn't catch them. It's too bad that there weren't wildcards back then, the Bluejays would have made the playoffs almost every year from 1983 to 1993.

Fernandez getting taken out by a questionable slide during that final Detroit series put the nail in their coffin.

Also, in the final series against Detroit Ernie Whitt went o-4 with 4 fly outs to the 440ft fence that would have been home runs in most stadiums and instead of losing by 1 run they'd have won. Hopefully this year's team can turn things around and get the wildcard.

Obviously, you want to make the playoffs, but the unfortunate part is if by some miracle we make the playoffs, we likely get Gerrit Cole or Chris Sale in a 1 game WC and if we win that then we are likely getting the Rays in a 5 game series.

If we can do all that and make the ALCS, then it will truly be a historic season.

Ray can very likely hold his own in that 1 game. You'd just have to hope the offense pulls through. And then you'd be looking at a combo of Berrios/Manoah/Ryu for the start of the ALDS, not the end of the world.

Ray reminds me of Marco Estrada, sort of. Estrada re-signed with us after his great 2015 season for 2 years x 13M. This is his first real great season, not even close. Ray is probably having an even better season than Marco did in 2015 but you can't go crazy with him. 18 x 3, how about that? Happ money.

Do players get in shit for running through the stop sign? I would assume so?

Probably not so much when it works out OK, but he likely would've gotten a stern talking to* if he had been gunned down at the plate.

*from someone other than Charlie. Because everything's fine in Charlie's world.
