Wait so if we're talking 7 forwards 3 defensemen and 1 goalie format....

Forwards

1. Barkov
2. Huberdeau
3. Verhaeghe
4. Duclair
5. Bennett
6. Hornqvist
7. Vatrano

Defensemen

1. Ekblad
2. Weegar
3. Forsling

Goalie

1. Bobrovsky

Is there something I'm missing here? Who else would we protect up front that we wouldn't want Seattle to take? Marchment and Gudas seem like the only logical choices for them.

Nutivaara as well, they may take him. Just turned 27 last month, cheap $2.7 mil cap hit, can play #4/5 minutes, easily flipped at deadline or kept if he pans out.

stay far far away from Seth Jones. Especially at the price they are demanding.
Why? What are they demanding?
If it's true that Jones is only willing to go to one of three teams, then it's not like the BJs have leverage.
Also kinda doubt that the Stars would seriously be in the running with their cap and roster situation.
Heiskanen needs to be paid, Lindell is locked up long term, and Klingberg still has another year until UFA. Plus, Klingberg is a leader on that team. Not sure if they'd ditch him for Jones.

Seth Jones has spent 8 years in the league and is still living off his draft pedigree. He’s an average defenseman that’s been handed 1D ice time and racked up some counting stats because of it. I wouldn’t want to sign him if he were a UFA because his contract will be bloated. Forget about trading multiple top picks and prospects and paying the salary.
Players who have a particuar destination pretty much always sign for a ~15% discount.
I'd gladly take Jones at $7.5m x 7y.

Vatrano and/or Hornquist should be left exposed. Vatrano will be a UFA next season and won't be worth any sort of pay raise. Hornquist won't get selected. If he is, yay, 5.5 more cap.

His analytics are BRUTAL. CBJ is demanding high end prospects and picks.

D is king in playoffs. Of course you need offense who are committed to own zone as well, but those who talk about the Lightning offense and Vasy rather than including their D as an equal or bigger factor are mistaken. I suspect a reasonable help (not old) on D coming in plus at least one own prospect making noise.

We're set to lose one of MM, Vatrano, Gudas or maybe Accari.

That's two bottom six players, a bottom pairing Dman and a fringe fourth liner.

OR we can lose a UFA (Dreidger).

We are coming out so far ahead compared to other teams. We just need to sit back and let Seattle take who they want. Zito shouldn't even bother calling Francis.

Who ever we lose can be replaced at the same cost, or cheaper.
Yeah with Yandle gone, we're set well for the expansion draft. No deals unless it's to improve our team (say, they claim a guy and trade him to us).

Agreed. Anyone think there was some sort of a deal, expansion draft or for future considerations, for the agreement made with Seattle to share the AHL affiliate? I'm not sure they had many other options for their non-roster players

I thought something might have been in play with regard to KY, but either he then refused to waive his NMC; or they simply chose the buyout route and then extend Forsling and protect him.

Just curious...

With the forward options one of Acciari, Vatrano, or Horny, I think it'll be either Gudas or Driedger gone. I don't see a team wanting Nutivaara, he was not good last year.

Vatrano should be traded to the highest bidder if Seattle is leaving him on the table.

Huberdeau, Verhaeghe, Duclair, Tippett, Heponiemi, Denisenko, Hornqvist, Acciari, Marchment, and Lomberg is a diverse, ideal stable of wingers that will be competing for ice time.

Tanklin is a nice middle 6er, but he is one of those players who just cannot make use of his linemates. That's not a good fit with Bennett and Lundell at center.

i would be surprised if zito exposed horny.

i realize he isn't the player he once was but, clearly, based on his and the teams' play AND anecdotal evidence, he was a big part of the culture change we witnessed.

i don't think you dump a player like that right now. the exit of yandle leaves some room for ek and others to step up and that's good. but i don't think horny needs to be thrown overboard just yet.\

Good for Judge if true. He's gonna get paid and will likely shut us out both games we play them

I won't be surprised at all if Seattle takes Judge. I mentioned this months ago, people didn't understand why Seattle would take a to-be UFA. The goalie Market is going to be hot this summer. He seems like a good goalie who will have good value. Seattle should select him to have exclusive negotiating rights before he hits the open market, or they can swing a deal for him and get good value on the trading block.
Either way I would bet he is the player from Florida selected in the expansion draft. Best case scenario for the Panthers.

I read that Ben Bishop is waiving his NMC to go to Seattle as well. Not sure though
