Weeger - Ekblad
Forsling - Montour/?
Gudas/Kiersted/Juulsen/Nutivaara - Stralman
I'm thinking you keep Stralman, play him on the 2nd pairing and rotate AHL guys (Ludvig/Gildon/Kiersted/Carlsson/Priskie) in his place to give him rest. No B2B's for Stralman.

Montour got exposed a bit in the playoffs, so idk if he's in our plans. Nutivaara might be on the trading block (swapping him for a bottom6 forward would make sense), never got the sense Q likes him, one of the younger d-men might take his spot as well.

Scott Darling, the last forgotten Tallon parting gift.

That was getting out of another brutal Joyce contract though...
ugh. no it wasn't

Reimer wasn't a horrible contract. It was actually quite a bit better than Darling's. Darling just had the signing bonus in a more palatable year.

Reimer was a servicable NHLer in Carolina while Darling couldn't get back into the NHL.

A competent GM would have found a much better way to shed Reimer's deal.

A competent GM would also have had luongo go on LTIR rather than retire to avoid the cap penalty.

But you need to actually read the CBA to understand the rules...

Ya we're not getting Tank then, Zito is basically bringing back the band sans Yandle and maybe adds a top 4 D on another expiring deal to not block the young LD prospects. Don't think Montour will be back.
And the forwards stay the same for most part.

Duclair at 3yrs x $3.25 mil?
Bennet at 3 yrs x $3.65 mil?

3 years for Bennett doesn't make sense for either side. From our perspective, we'll either want a one-year bridge that takes him to his last year of RFA status, or we'll want a much longer term deal.

Depending on what our longer term offer is, I'm sure Bennett wants the same.

My thoughts are the 3 yr deal ends when Lundells ELC does, it also lines up close to when cap goes back up for Bennett. He's gonna pad his offensive stats playing with Huby and Tipp and cash in soon

You could be right, maybe it'll be 4 years so we can maybe trade Bennett with a year left but I don't see him here for 5 years or longer.

Zito will be a very busy boy

Looks like it at the moment, but I doubt we qualify many of those RFAs.

Guys I think are walking (or re-signed without the RFA hassle):

Wallmark (signed in the KHL and fringe player anyway)
Lammikko (fell out of favour as the season went on)
Juulsen (barely played, I don't see the point, re-sign him as a UFA if you really want him)
Bajkov (ECHL player)
Morrison (don't think he's in our plans)
Rauhauser (ECHL player)

Guys maybe walking:

Massie (played in the ECHL, but he's young enough to still make it so maybe qualified)
Montembeault (could be the best decision for both sides)

Guys qualified:

Bennett (duh)
Carlsson (good AHL numbers and cup of coffee in Chicago, why not)
Priskie (good AHL numbers and local guy)
Bednard (no reason not to)

Still hopeful for Lammer, or maybe they bring back Mamin?

Lammikko is always just sort of.. there. We need a more offensively capable and faster 4C (Acciari should be on the wing), if we really want to roll 4 lines. It's time for him as well to try with a different organization.

There was that rumour about Mamin coming back, he'd be a good addition to the bottom6.

$11.471 million in cap space with Bennett to go, so likely around $7.5 million or more left over after he's inked. And we're lucky to get more if Vatrano or Nuti are selected but I think Judge would love the new expansion effect while getting paid around $3 mil per year.
Leaves room for a top 4D through free agency or trade

I foresee a top 4 dman inbound.

Left handed. Absolutely MUST be left handed.

Forsling / Ekblad
Nutivaara / Weegar
Kierstad / Gudas
Gildon / Stralman

That's our depth chart ish for the time being on defense. Left side looks VERY weak.

Wow. That is some impressive work by Zito. That Forsling contract is awesome. If the Duke find some consistency, that one will turn out to great value as well. Buying out Yandle was, of course, the right decision. Great day for Zito, the team and you die hards.
