if tarasenko doesnt get taken, he will be a blue next year imo.

if he does get taken, i expect them to go in on Landeskog, Schwartz and Sutter.

I know its a long shot. But is there any chance we made a trade to Seattle to take Tarasenko? So the deal would be that they would pay us something to expose Tarasenko, and not take Dunn. So the trade ends up as this: Expose Tarasenko <-> Not Taking Dunn + 2nd.

We could then trade Dunn after the expansion for a 2nd and prospect. So then we basically traded Tarasenko with his full cap hit for 2 2nds and a prospect. Then we also have the cap to sign Landeskog to "replace" Tarasenko as a top 6 forward.

I don’t think that particular scenario sounds very realistic at all, BUT you are right in the sense that a lot of things can still unfold. We really can’t judge anything until the expansion draft, entry draft and free agency happen to see Armstrong’s full plan.

I'm suprised Tarasenko was exposed. This pretty much means that the relationship is...ummm....divorce level.

I thought that he would go in a trade before the XD. That he didn't is very interesting.

If you are wondering about Price, he volunteered to save Allen. Nobody expects that the Kraken will take an average season goalie for 10.5 million. Price is now more of a one trick playoff pony. His NMC also crushes any hope the Kraken can trade him to a contender.

Is it possible that Price waived his NMC without even being asked by Montreal? Maybe he figures they aren't likely to take him but IF he left Montreal be would only do so to play close to home.

Just had that thought this morning, does the team even need to be involved or can a player waive his clause unilaterally?

A player can, but it doesn’t mean anything unless the team trades said player. If Price waived unilaterally, Montreal would still need to choose to expose him instead of Allen. In short, Montreal asked him to waive.

That Price contract still has 5 more years left on it?? No shot I would touch that deal if I’m Seattle. Price had a nice run through these playoffs but has not been worth that contract at any other point and is now 33 years old.

The amount of people that think Seattle are going to take every big name on a big contract are nuts. Vegas only took big contracts because of the amount of assets team gave them to take them. Once some of the under the radar hit another level in Vegas, they then moved those assets in trades for big name players. Seattle isn't going to take a bunch of bloated contracts or former big name players that are now damaged goods. Maybe 1 or 2.

The Price thing is bizarre. Allen is easily replaceable as a backup. My guess is they know Seattle won't take Price because of his salary and signing bonuses.

i think they take dunn tbh over tarasenko. stupid to expose him and not krug if they want to shed cap space. if you expose krug and tarasenko, you pretty much guarantee atleast 6.5m in cap relief.

I genuinely do not understand why people on this board think Krug is a negative. His contract is just like Schenn's, and honestly he'll probably age better too. He's 100% worth what he is paid currently, and likely will continue so for 3-4 more years. Then you just hope he continues to produce points on a lesser role. The problem with Krug is we used him like a #1 D because our left side was so poor. If Scandella didn't fall off a cliff, Krug could've been in his more ideal role. It's why getting Suter would be a big help.

Seattle will certainly have their pick of the litter when it comes to “aging, overpaid stars”. Doubt they’ll bite on many of them but should still have a solid roster.

Because here's the thing, if there isn't a Karlsson, Marchessault, Perron, or Smith that perform like 1st liners, and all under 30, or guys like Schmidt/Theodore for the back end, then getting aging formers stars is pointless. Neal was the only one that fit that bill for Vegas, Fleury was still a good player, Penguins just had a tough goalie situation and made the wrong bet.

They will definitely get some good players, and I think many thought Marchessault would be really good as he has been, but not many thought Karlsson would hit the level he did or Perron.
