Now all players are covid free, bring all 46 players with them into the bubble and play 2-3 practice games.
Considering all three positives were a week later, after multiple negatives and they said the staff member was not a close contact of the players then I’d begin to wonder if they picked it up in the Red Deer environment somewhere. At the rink, hotel, bus, etc. so if they can maybe go to bubble ASAP. They are limited to on,y bring a group of 40 including staff to the bubble though.

One thing about the whole bubble protocol that isn’t emphasized near enough is that once teams enter the bubble on Dec 13 they have to stay in their rooms for 5 days and continue to test negative. That’s why there’s no exhibition games until the 20th.

The Lafrenière thing is just about dead. It’s nice they keep professing hope through the media but it’s not happening. He has to fly to Canada and start his 14 day quarantine just about this second to be able to enter the Edmonton bubble with the team on Dec 13. Would they even allow modified quarantine with skating before the rest of the team gets out of theirs? Doubtful. Are they going to allow any sort of modified quarantine at all after this scare where one guy could bring something in without a full 14 day quarantine and wipe the entire team out of the tournament? The teams have to be together by the 6th too. For a guy that’s focused on the NHL looking at 3 weeks of isolation and inactivity before and after the bubble just to be on this team it’s obvious it’s not happening.

Hes a first overall pick. I dare say the Rags would set him up with his own private sheet of ice (and weight room) if he has to quarantine after the WJC.

It's not that Laf has to quarantine after the WJC, its that he will have to quarantine for 14 days upon entering Canada from the US BEFORE the tournament starts, He will also have to, like everyone else entering the Edmonton bubble ( on Dec 13), quarantine in a hotel for an additional 4 days before being released into the bubble. So Laf will have to quarantine for 18 days total before being allowed to play. Hopefully it happens but I doubt the Rangers want him not skating or properly working out for 18 days but I could be wrong.

I truly don't understand why Bettman isn't more transparent on the start of the season.
Just to be clear, it’s not just Betman’s call. There are lots of different parties weighing in on this, including the players. With that said, for us to be just a month out from the projected start date with still nothing having even been announced makes me pretty skeptical.

I mean wouldn't that then be a concern for literally every other team that isn't flying into Canada until about 2 weeks before the tournament? If it is okay for the Americans to fly in and enter the bubble on the 13th or whatever day it is....why would it not be okay for Lafreniere? Put him under the exact same protocols the other teams will be on as they enter the bubble and being honest if those don't work there are bigger problems then Lafreniere.

I would expect cuts to happen today following the weekend.
They've only been in quarantine for 6 days.

Even if they cut players, they still got to quarantine for 14 days. That means the players who were cut have to say in Alberta and continue to quarantine.

Makes no sense to do cuts today, or this week even. Midweek next week I'd think.

is LAF in the States now or is he still home. NYC is a hot spot!

Team Canada should quarantine together on the ice for 2 weeks......
What happens with the players and the ice right now? Are they allowed to go onto the ice by themselves or with one or two other people? Are they allowed to use the weight rooms or are they just confined to their rooms?

Bettman is a jack ass. I blame him.

I'm going off the TSN article which probably has better knowledge of the situation than you or I.

All players and staff are still in quarantine for another 7 days. I highly doubt they will make any cuts until the day they get out of quarantine.

No point in cutting a player now to have him sit in the team hotel room for another 7 days by himself. Serves no purpose and would be terrible for the kids mental health to be cut and then have to sit in a room isolated.

The team is doing daily workouts and meetings as a full group and keeping all of the kids engaged, stimulated and motivated has got to be a priority.

Too bad we aren't capable of getting the played vaccinated prior to the tournament. Of course, they are low priority but... it would have been great.

Bettman is an easy target and I get that. Hate on him all you want, but just know that there are many stakeholders in this negotiation from owners to players to even the health authorities of the different regions. This isn’t going to be something that can be thrown together quickly which is why I find it odd that they have stuck to their original January 1st timeline.

Of course, what I’m really saying is JUST GET LAF TO CANADA ALREADY!

They are literally confined to their rooms.

The hockey Canada guys confirmed the other day Lafrenière is in NY.
