I’m not for advocating this when I say it, but a team that pretty much relies on Mcdavid, if I played, I’d just take someone like that knee out and accept any pummeling from it because you pretty much lock in the series. Don’t know why teams don’t do it one man teams
I feel dirty for pondering this as well. But it probably has more to do with the fact that even the biggest dicks in the NHL don’t generally look to destroy another players career. It seems like in the NFL, players are praised by teammates for that kind of shitty mentality. Hockey seems to be more fraternal than say, the NFL. So I think the intentional destruction of anothers players career and health would be more frowned upon. I just couldn’t see an entire NHL team condoning this toward another professional player.
BUT STILL……. Hehehe!!

Leave McJesus alone and kill Draisatl.

Btw, just watched Kyle Cliffords hit… man we could use someone like him now.

I mean if you're gonna take 2 minutes for simply being within a stick's length of a 6'3" paperweight get your money's worth.

I give full props to mcdavid for earning being pissed, i didn't like his antics towards the end of the game and he knows the refs didn't have the balls to call him on it at home but at least he goes hard and doesn't make a show of it, or didn't last night.

Draisaitl became a completely irredeemable p***y in my eyes last night.

Haven't posted here in I don't know how many years, but have been enjoying the trade kempe and kopitar posts for the last million years. Looking forward to adding my two cents every now and then.

Definitely need to try and clean up their d-zone play. Not just Byfield getting stripped from behind that almost led to a goal, but plenty of failed clearing attempts, fumbles of the puck, etc. They got away with that for one game, because Quick went playoff Quick, just doubt they get as fortunate again. Not that I don't get that they had 6 guys playing their first playoff game, 4 of them defensemen.

Durzi and Danault though. They do bring a swagger. Durzi's a swashbuckler, and Danault is a steely-eyed missile man.

Alright, celebrated last night. One game does not a series make. This could still go a million ways. Close teams. Gotta keep EDM off the power play. They are gonna throw all they got next game. McDavid still scares the crap out of me.

Yeah, but aside from the goal, and the one chance to start the 3rd, he was locked down as good as you can do with his skills. Moore was great covering him, and had any of the two guy at the blueline done the same when he skated through them, he's not scoring. They were watching , not playing defense. Moore forced him wide just about every chance he got after that goal.

What happened to Pepe?

Not sure. Didn't see much from him after the goal. He only play 2:59.

All in all, as good of a game as we could hope for. Our D and youth got exposed a few times, exactly what was expected. Byfield still has a lot of learning and isnt truly NHL ready but he's gaining experience left and right. I really hope both Kopitar and Danault are regularly talking to him about how and where needs to improve.

Nothing more needs to be said of Danault or Moore, they are incredible.

I am more and more impressed with Spence. He's decisive at all times. I'd love for him to become a fixture as our #4/#5 guy and regular PP time.

Lemieux only had like 3-4 minutes all game? Did he get injured or what? I'd rather go with 7D if you are going to play him less than 4 minutes.

Our team still needs a shutdown D guy (Mitchell/Scuderi/Greene type), and no, Edler is not it. I hope Blake can find one as a FA next year, would be just a huge boost to our D corps

From Insider: Regarding Brendan Lemieux, McLellan said that there is no injury and the way the game flowed simply phased players out in the second half, but “he did his job, there was nothing that he did wrong”

Seems odd since he scored a goal, maybe Todd was worried he'd take a dumb penalty?

That's kinda baffling.

Nothing. McLellan said that after all the penalties in the 2nd that it became a 3 line shortened bench game. Kaliyev took a couple of Brown's shifts, and Moore took one or two with Byfield.

So I said this yesterday too but it's funny because the narrative now is Kings aren't that good and were terribly sloppy yesterday and would be lucky to win another game...

what about the flip side of that, that the Kings played like absolute hammered dog shit and still won? That should be terrifying. Why do they think the Kings are suddenly going to start playing worse with guys getting healthier and kids getting more experience? Kaliyev and Byfield were buzzing once they got their bearings adjusted, Spence had no problem handling the puck within inches of the best players on earth, etc...

Just a microcosm of the season really, play pretty sloppy, have terrible special teams, just find a way to win through pure brass balls...the difference is of course Quick is engaged now too, but still. Imagine if things start breaking right?

Oilers got outplayed 5v5 and were fortunate to be in the game because of sofffft calls leading to the Kings terrible special teams, I can't imagine the refs fall for Draisaitl's antics and the fans calling penalties all series once they review that first game, and the Kings PP is gonna get some pinball goals out of sheer regression-to-the-mean/luck. They also don't want to admit Smith played really well outside of the gaffe, he made some big saves that kept it from being 3-0 early...
