Ha, i was thinking earlier today that if the Kings lost, this board would blow up and a bunch of bipolar fans around here would be on suicide watch claiming the season is over after game 3. You guys are kinda pathetic...
Says the guy that wouldn't take the pizza + wings and cold beer solution.

Sucks to see 19 year old Lucas Raymond scoring in Detroit...18 year old, William Eklund scoring in San Jose, 19 year old Jamie Drysdale scoring OT winner in Anaheim...
Cole Caufield scoring in Montreal...Kirby Dach scoring in Chicago, Stutzle in Ottawa and then there's Turcotte with 0 shots on goal tonight against some AHL team from Abbotsford? Where is that, even?

I know Alex is a good young player and will be good, but all of these 18-20 year olds are making impacts and Turcotte is trying to find his game in the AHL and Kupari and Kaliyev just trying to break through...and Byfield being out, with a broken ankle...Akil Thomas with 2 shoulder surgeries, close to being able to practice and JAD back in the minors. Lias with a groin injury.Even Gabe is not shining, after a great camp.

I honestly believe Byfield and Clarke will emerge as real talents. The Kings really need another as well, to reach or surpass their potential. Maybe that will be Chromiak.
I believe Fagemo can play and hope he can be a 'higher scoring Trevor Moore'. He has a great shot. I think they should bring him up next. A damn shame Quinton and Lias got
injured. They were the 2 best '21 and under' forwards in camp. Maybe Lias is 22 now? No matter, he was looking great.

Holy overreacting Batman! Kings have the same amount of points as Knights, Islanders, Avalanche and Jets. Can we at least wait until game 10 with the fire everybody and trade everybody crap?

Since a nice a nice minority wanted Kopitar, Doughty and Brown gone while running Vilardi and the Russian as line 1 after the preseason.

I wish we could be good like the 3 and 0 Sabers, now that’s a franchise that knows how to build a winning team.

Through three games, Anze Kopitar has 5 goals, and everyone else on the roster has combined for 4 goals (Brown, Arvidsson, Doughty, Danault).

The team is chock full of depth forwards who can’t score, and offense from the blueline is inexistent.

There's Doughty, who by his own admission is not a big points producer, and nobody else. The one hole they need to address was ANYBODY who can score from the point. The signed Edler.

No no no, absolutely nothing in common there.

Frolov was a terrific forechecker and the single best board player the team had since Taylor, even to this day. He was an elite defensive winger. He was an extremely hard worker in all of the difficult areas and routinely put up good numbers in the dead puck era. He put up 50+ points in every season here.

How dare you compare Adrian stinkin' Kempe to that?

There's a reason he had the nickname "Froloaf" around here and the other board , and it's not because he loved baking bread. Frolov would put up 7 points in 3 games then you wouldn't notice him for 3 weeks. Kempe's the same way, but without the scoring part. He's the only guy I can remember Bob Miller calling out in a game, that how frustrating Frolov could be. Kempe has reached that level for a lot of us, the pre-season, and tonight again, he was pretty much invisible. And you know who I see following this path, Kupari. I noticed him once trying to score, the rest were terrible plays and getting smoked twice on the dots. He got burned so bad Josi, it looked like he'd never played a pro game.

I get what your saying but the difference between those teams you mentioned is they have very good rosters with tons of talent and at any given time can possibly turn it around. Looking at the Kings at this moment with the make up of these players there's just not a lot of proven players. Seasons not over of course but it might be another one of those years.

It's more or less the fact that fans have been traumatized by this team since 2018 that they fear those old habits are creeping back: the lack of focus, lack of intensity, lack of physical play, lack of caring, lack of offense, lack of drive... just about lacking in every facet of the game.

It is certainly more of an accumulation of what we've come to expect from the Kings for the past three seasons. Yet it's definitely too early to make any proclamations, like people calling Kopitar's demise based on preseason action.

Had it not been for Petersen, this game could have easily been 5-1 or something. So at least he played well.

For the forwards it looks like we have one pretty good line, one okay line, and two AHL caliber lines.

The defensemen as a group look subpar at best. Roy continues to be a disappointment. Anderson is over his head. Doughty looks tired.

Right, let’s get a grip. No, it’s not a great performance but we’ve lost 2 games by a single goal despite being absolutely ‘awful’. We haven’t been blown away and it’s almost as if people actually expected the issues to be fixed by a preseason and for everyone to hit the ground running. Of course a better start would be superb but getting all the pieces plugged together is going to take time as there has been some significant roster turnover. The next 2-3 weeks will be telling as it’s the opportunity for some players to keep their spot on the roster or else the guys in the AHL will be stepping in. This is pretty much how is was expected to go and the lineup will have evolved further by the end of the year.

Lemieux, AA, Andersson and Byfield are all unavailable and at least three of them would likely have dressed last night. Is that an excuse? No. However two of those guys are amongst the more physical players on the team and QB brings size. It’s definitely affected the balance of the lineup but it’s a problem they need to figure out. The lack of size on the blue line is something that is going to need resolving sooner rather than later. I’d happily trade anyone not name Doughty or Björnfot at this point, for the right player and that’s not a reflection on Anderson, Roy or Walker it’s more a reflection of the mix in the blue line.

As I said after game 1 let’s not get carried away with that win and nor should we get carried away if we lose the next couple. It’s almost as if the hysteria was predictable. I’m not saying it will or won’t be fine but it’s way too early to for the reaction I’m seeing here.

Ending the season at .500 or more is a major accomplishment for this team. I don't believe any hype on prospects or playoffs until I see real progress from the team or young players. You can foresee some of what's about to happen by looking at the past. Major development issues are starting to show again and it's something that a few of us on this board were concerned about.

Yes, because he had a lazy skating stride, an uninformed fan made up a cute name one day, and other fans thought he knew what he was talking about.

It's like when people jumped on the derisive nicknames of Kopitar for several years.

Laine and Tarasenko have combined for 1 goal in 5 games this year.

I think the idea is we hope for some younger players to blossom. If they do blossom, then team might be good, if they don't then the team will continue to be bad.

i don't think that's how adding a roster player and rearranging the entire 4 lines work

but sure.... Taransenko and Laine wouldn't be able to help our offence because Danault has the same amount of goals in 3 games that Tarasenko and Laine combined have in 5

This is an incredible statistical fallacy that i'm sure even you can appreciate

btw Danault also has more goals than Austin Matthews, Brock Boeser, Taylor Hall, Cole Caufield ETC

so none of those players could have helped

Nobody worth listening to ever used that expression. There was nothing lazy about that man's game, just dumb fans who wanted him to be something different than what he was, which was a Ulf Dahlen/Jere Lehtinen hybrid who had 5 straight 20+ goal and 5 straight 50+ point seasons.
