adding Tarasenko or Laine would have been a necessary move at this point

If one of the two pieces you add has to absolutely be a defensive forward (Danault), then you STILL need to add your 2 forwards required to boost your scoring

We added Arvidsson, but we need another pure scorer

now we're back to the DL/Sutter era of playing trap hockey that some of us nagged and nagged about

If you actually thought that the moves made this summer would boost scoring, then that's exactly why we never see anything eye to eye

it's all good

TMac isn't going anywhere, for better or worse he has a lot of leash left. Honestly, this is on the players. They have a lot of work to do and they have to get used to all the new faces. Our team doesn't stack up well to most of the NHL despite the new additions. They are going to have to put in a better effort night in and out, the veterans have to be playing their best, and the prospects need to be taking their steps forward. Either way, we don't really have a big enough sample size to go too crazy. Just have to ride it out and see how the team responds moving forward.

LA lacks talent in their top 6. That's what it all comes down to. They're trying to compensate for that by playing crap D and it's showing. Look at the top 6. You got Kopitar, Danault (maybe a top 6 center), Tkachev (Maybe), and Arvidsson. No one else is a top 6 talent. Vilardi maybe, but he's so inconsistent it's not even funny and he needs certain wingmen to help him. So LAs problem is top 6 scoring/talent.

LA has guys in the system to combat this though and it'll all work out if they're not rushed, like some of you want to do. Let the team play. Let them gel and win and lose together. That's what builds teams up. We're not going to win the cup this year or the next. Blake talking about that last year was gas. Let the team gel.

DANAULT is absolutely NOT a top 6 player

He's a great 3rd line center

You should probably tell that to Blake and Tmac. They expect to make the playoffs this year.
 
Time for my annual "Is it too soon to talk about the draft?" :sarcasm: But seriously though its been like this for the last 3/4 years and there isn't much anyone can do about it. Blake and company has stockpiled a good farm but seems none are even ready besides Byfield. You either trade top prospects for vets or just ride it out until the kids finally show up. Sad to say but looks like Detroit, Ottawa, Columbus and even the Ducks are further along with the rebuild then we are. Only thing I'm concerned about is the development of our kids and will they live up to their hype.

Tkachev and Vilardi have looked really bad so far this year, they are possession black holes. They need a play driver until Lias comes back, I recommend Iafallo. The team desperately needs another line going, and the middle two lines have been flat. I think the talent is there, the combos just need to be fixed.

Yeah I think it's pretty clear Blakes moves, both through the draft(High picks), and free agency are not panning out as hoped. I know it's early, 3 games, but last year I saw the same warning signs early on too. I gave it 20 games last year, not this year. Fool me once.....

We need to all acknowledge it’s not just one guy or one pairing that needs to happen or stop happening. It’s an overall team mentality if the skill is there(debatable), as it always has been. If the skill is there then it falls on the coaches and the captains which haven’t exactly shown the fortitude to overperform. If that’s the case, it’s going to be another loooong season.

If the skill is there than we should see flashes of it despite the coaching because that’s what great players do. And that’s what good coaches do, find a way for the team to win. If he and they can’t do that, then it’s Blake’s job is to make the call…again. Ring around the Rosie jfc

Yeah the one thing I hate to see is Blake gets desperate trades a guy like Turcotte, AK34, etc. for a guy like Eichel or whomever, and have it backfire in our faces. But I agree somethings not working and he'll probably move...
 
You know why I'm posting so much?? because I'm the idiot who bought tickets to the game against the Canadians on the 30th. I can't believe I contributed to this teams pocket books. Mad at myself. Pathetic effort tonight. I expect no less when I'm there lol.

Can we at least stop acting like our defense is going to win games?? Lets go all in on offense. F*** it play ZERO defense. For the love of god just give us something interesting to watch!!!!

Laine and Tarasenko have combined for 1 goal in 5 games this year.

I think the idea is we hope for some younger players to blossom. If they do blossom, then team might be good, if they don't then the team will continue to be bad.
