GDT: 2021-22 season game 10 LA Kings vs St. Louis Blues @7:00pm 11/3/21

Teams that have won the cup have been in top of corsi and Fenwick for at close, it's a fairly predictive stat in the long run when coupled by heat maps showing that shots have been generated from dangerous areas

Teams that have won the cup have also been near the top in shots for, which is not really an advanced stat at all.

He certainly still has more value than that, and I would imagine LA would want to package him for help on the backend.

Okay so that wasn't a great kill lol

There wasn't even a chance the goal happened so fast. Draw, pass, shot, rebound, goal...5 sec.

So many ripping on kempe. Maybe cause his smarts dont match his speed and on tv thats all you see. He was the kings best player tonight in person. Just buzzing leaving it all out there every shift.
That Iafallo-Kempe-Danault line is really awesome. If they develop the young guys like Chromiak Byfield Kupari Kaliyev and Turcotte into top sixers and slide that line down to the third line they will be a stanley cup contender.
As the main Iafallo hater on this board I say that I like him a lot this year especially as a high end second liner.
Kaliyev has that same thing that Tarasenko has where he is just so dangerous with the puck on his stick. His skating has improved a lot and he did not look slow or get winded early in shifts.
Also you have to admit the defense is queitly playing solid without Drew carrying them on his back. No complaints tonight even for Maatta.
Quick looked good also.
They started slow but they deserved that win.

That is all on Kopitar. Put it in the EN bozo. Twice.

Then, after the shot, the puck goes off his skate right to a Blues player, and its in. You could go even further back when they were playing keep away and he passed it too softly behind the net. The goalie stopped it and the Blues got it back. Just a total clown show the final 30 seconds.

I was at the game tonight. I thought our D played well and was really impressed with Clague. I noticed Andersson and Kupari all night, and in a good way.

I thought Seattle was foolish for passing on Clague. I was never down on him, but was a pretty poor game he had, the last preseason game. I thought he was good last year, on his second callup. He sure has stepped up and played with confidence and he's really using his skating. One thing for sure, I bet he never clears waivers again. Would not send him down, when Doughty returns and I would certainly play him over Maatta. Kudos to Kale and keep it up.

What?? Quick is the only reason Blues got a point - 2 goals because he can't hold on to rebounds and Schenn whiffed on his shootout attempt. I'm not a Quick hater but Kings won despite Quick's inept goaltending.
But you ignore a number of very good saves beyond the ones you’d expect him to have. Most goalies give up the odd rebound, that’s when you hope the d-zone coverage bails them out. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t. He had 33 saves on 35 shots, big picture that’s a solid performance at worse.

Geez. That’s 2 games in a row where we win and there’s as much bitching as there is positive comment. Half the posters on here would win $10 million and immediately lament they didn’t get $20 million.

Part of the reason the kids are doing well is that they are being eased into the lineup in terms of the size of their role. The fact they are playing well is most definitely going to be in part down to coaching. It’s also not a case that everything bad is down to TM and everything good is only because of the player. Its always somewhere in between.

I love you Arty, f*** you Todd

and thank you for the new avy

Kings found a way to win. Last season they would have found a way to lose.

Hell, a week ago they would have found a way to lose. Important that they responded so well in OT, even if they didn't quite bury it, and finished it off in the SO.

all that aside i'm happy we were blessed with this:

I laugh every time I see this update

Kaliyev just gives you the feeling that any shot he takes could be a goal.

And it's beyond time they give guys like that chances to grow and make mistakes, trade some of that raw possession for offense, you keep people honest when you have instant offence like that bang bang clague->kaliyev->net play. Without that, teams can just sit on our predictable two-way players. Same thing on the PP, there's room for guys like Kaliyev (Vilardi, Tkachev) on this roster instead of redundancies when no one can turn possession into results.

So should the Kings. Lots of chances to put it away in both regulation and in OT they almost gave away the game.

But hey we won , take the ugly win and put a good effort against NJ.

After a few pretty losses it's time to accept an ugly win. The process has been good for the last 4-5 games, they earned the result over hte last 3. With tonight's sloppiness I wouldn't be surprised if the streak ends next but it's encouraging seeing play trend up especially against STL because I would have been in question mode...beat up the awful teams and lose yet again to a playoff team would be spinning wheels in mud. This is good progress.

All in a all, a good win. The team just looks exciting and competitive. Finally capable of zone entries with speed and control after years of the dump and fail to chase.

Lemmy  so good

There must've been a glitch in the matrix. I'm not sure I remember ever seeing Kopitar miss with that move once the goalie's beat.

On an unrelated note, did anyone notice the swagger that Iafallo were playing with in the 3rd last night? Iafallo was carrying the puck and attacking the middle of the ice like an elite offensive player. Kempe was also doing the same in OT and STL was not ready for it on a few occasions.

As boring as the 1st (& even most of the 2nd) was....the 3rd period & OT/SO last night was exciting & fun as heck. Mostly great exciting...with the exception of 25 seconds of pain. That's what i want, regardless of results. Live & die with the youth and their skill. LT we'll be better for it.

Speaking of boring, Brown was invisible last night to me. You could have told me he didn't play last night and I might have had to think about it for a few seconds. Maybe Kopi's off night had something to do with that as well idk.

Of course Quick made some good saves. He needs to on any given night for the team to win. I'm just saying last nights game was one of those where he gave up rebounds that he clearly should have held onto that resulted in both Blues goals. We still won so I'm over that. But Quick had a so-so game - no sugar coating that.

He's been not great except for the first couple games. Really, he doesn't belong anywhere near top line minutes. Pucks go to Brown to die. He did have a nice rush with Danault at the end, but he's been mostly blah. I think it's the end of the road for him. Seeing how the other 3 lines played and they're tenacity and then watch Brown, it's tough to watch. He stopped out-working his opponents.
