BC defeats UMass leaving the door open for Northeastern to take the Hockey East regular season championship and the #1 seed for the HE tourney if they beat Merrimack coming up.

With the average team salary being around 8-10 million in 2021. That is probably around 4 -5 million today. What is Mukhamadullin, Misyul and Gritsyuk set to make next season? The NHL signing bonus alone is probably 3 times what their salary will be next season.

It depends on if the players are paid in dollars or rubles. That said, I would be surprised if players their age are paid in dollars, I think that's only reserved for star players.

The more I think about it, the more I think the import draft ban on Russians was silly and that NHL teams should be looking to bring as many of these guys over as possible.

Mukhamadullin has a contract with NJ and I highly doubt he is loaned back to the KHL.

Misyul is a FA

Gritsyuk signed thru next season

When Muhk signed it seemed like he signed with the understanding he would be loaned back next year. That Muhk wants that development path.

Obviously the world changed since then so I hope Muhk wants to come to NA now but there may now be a behind the scenes battle to get Muhk to follow the original plan and not report even if the Devils request him to.

I don't know why that would be the conclusion here. Mukhamadullin will be playing on his ELC next year so he will be paid in dollars, so his salary goes up staying in Russia. Seravelli's piece notes that Russians may struggle to get work visas. It's just hard to imagine a scenario where this turns out better for NHL clubs or Russian hockey players than the status quo as of January 2022.

I don't see the NHL allowing a loan to the KHL. The optics looks bad as well, paying someone to play in Russia. It would also make him the highest paid player in the KHL if currencies remain close to what they are now.

I agree that it will be more difficult to sign FA due to such VISA issues, I just believe Muks situation is unique.

Thank goodness we got him under contract before all this started. We should be doing all we can to help our other Russian prospects get out.

We're going back to the Lou and Fetisov days, I guess.

Fetisov unhappy over signing of former Soviet mate - UPI Archives

Since Kasatonov instigated a fight in his first appearance for the Devils' organization, Fetisov has apparently made up his mind to change his approach to the more physical North American game.

Fetisov had been unhappy about the reputation he developed in the early stages of the season when he showed an unwillingness to fight. Those who have criticized the N.H.L. for allowing Soviet players into the league enjoyed seeing Fetisov walk away from a challenge by Wendell Clark of the Toronto Maple Leafs in the Devils' ninth game of the season.

'Don't Touch'

Wednesday night, however, Fetisov thumped Lemieux twice in the third period and drew elbowing and roughing penalties for his impoliteness. The Penguin star later drew a 10-minute misconduct penalty for threatening Fetisov.

''He told me, 'Don't touch Mario'; that's all,'' Fetisov said afterward. '' 'Don't touch Mario,' '' Fetisov repeated, rolling his eyes.

''I definitely noticed a change in Slava since Alex arrived,'' Craig Wolanin, who has been Kasatonov's defensive partner, said of Fetisov. ''Slava is playing with more intensity. He doesn't want to be outdone by Alex.''

Fetisov and Kasatonov had some unkind things to say about each other after Fetisov and three other players - Igor Larionov, Sergei Makarov and Vladimir Krutov - forced the issue of playing in the N.H.L. with Soviet officials and Kasatonov took the side of the authorities.

But regardless of their personal differences, the two Soviet defensemen are apparently determined to outdo each other and the Devils will reap all the benefits.

That's months away, hopefully Russia is defeated, Putin booted, and normal relations between the NHL and KHL are reinstated by then.

Muk’s situation is complicated by his contract having a European Assignment Clause. Cap Friendly has the Clause for 2021-22 (obviously) & 2022-23. That prevents him from being required to go to the AHL if assigned there. He can report there if he wants to go of course.
