Voynov, on the other hand, combined with Doughty creted huge match up problems for opponents and had not yet reached his potential.
People always say stuff like this, but Voynov was not particularly good in 2014. As that season went on, it was Muzzin that really came into his own. Especially in the playoffs, and it made a huge difference for the Kings.

In that playoff run, Muzzin had the most goals of any Kings Dman, and the second most points only behind Doughty.

Mitchell who was paired with Voynov, really helped make up VV's shotty play during that run.

I KNOW Kaliyev is on the PP... stop being a condescending jerk.

What is "ridiculous" about playing your best offensive sniper the full two minutes of a PP, esp when your PP is hungry for goals and said sniper plays 4th line minutes.
Why not maximize your best opportunities with your best sniper?
Why not do what Caps do with Ovechkin...out of the box...
Hell, couldn't be worse.

Yes, Kaliyev = Ovechkin....

FFS this couldn't get better could it?

Ffs, it's like people aren't allowed to comment about organizational shortcomings without remarks like whining, bitching, etc being thrown as a retort.

Are there really people who think the organization is perfect and can do no wrong? Is there NOTHING about the organization they'd want to change or improve?
when you do it once in a while among something positive things as well but when 90 % of ur posts all all negetative you get marked as a doom and gloom poster

At some point--putting words in people's mouths just so you can insult them is gonna get you infractions.

Giving you a fair warning because this one has nothing to do with a you-me interaction, there is nowhere in that comment you could make that inference in good faith.

I don't know why it is diffcult to have an honest discussion with Brown along the lines of 'Dustin, you are a franchise icon and will be the first of the Cup winners to have your number retired. But, we are not going to re-sign you next season, and if you want to continue your career, we would be happy to find a trading partner if one exists. As to this season, you are going to play as many minutes as you earn, and you may be supplanted'.

It's not like this guy has earned the right to permanently be in the line up based on his history with the team. Professional sports is about current production, not nostalgia. He's lifted the Cup twice and made $50mm+. It's not as if we are treating him unfairly. I don't get the 'kid's glove' treatment.
I remember when Andy Murray scratched Luc Robitaille. I was shocked when the world continued to spin on its axis, and the sun came up the next morning.

Luc absolutely deserved to be scratched. In a chicken **** move by Luc, he was scratched for a game in Anaheim near the end of the season, and stayed home instead of attending the game. Quite a guy.

I'm sure you're correct- you have to be an a**hole I guess to be a succesful GM. Look at Bill Bellichick.
Shortly after Dean's interview with Bob Miller and said he was going to start treating the players more like commodities, he lost his job. I think Dean had finally figured it out.

Arguing about this franchise is almost as exhausting as watching them play at this point.

I am appreciating the heel turn from RJ though. Nice plot twist.
I know it took forever until RJ finally saw the power of the dark side!

posts like this make me wonder why i ever took you off ignore

he never said that, he never even began to say that
Some of the posts have entertainment value. I just stopped responding long ago.

This f***ing franchise is cursed.

I wouldn't undo 2012 or 2014 for anything but the luck we have had since is just comically evil.
Yup, I told this guy what I truly desired. So, now I am content being a casual fan for a while.

If that is the case, then this org is 100% gutless. If they can't sit Anze down and let him know that a bottom ranked offense and powerplay is suffering because of Brown's presence then we had all better get ready to not watch until Blake is fired.

They'd better at least tell Anze to start firing pucks AT Brown if that's the case because there's a better chance of something hitting him and going in than him doing anything productive WITH the puck on the power play.

Even at 5v5 that's problematic because since November the only worse center in possession is Kupari and Kopitar is rocking a 41% GF%. They'd better sack up.

Surprise, surprise, but I disagree there,

I go back to these are human beings, and messages mean something, but let's disregard that, Look at some other lines, that you just think and go, WTF,

McDavid with Kassian
Matthews with Hyman,
Matthews with Simmonds
Ovechkin with Wilson

I mean, I get it that the Kings top 12 are offensively challenged, but teams don't take their top player at each position and throw them on a line, but even getting past that, Brown, past 4 years, averages 21 goals, and because he's now on a Sutter-esqe pace, he's useless, HE's the reason the offense sucks?

Can he be better, sure, so can Kopitar, but let's get even past that,

Does anyone thing that during training camp they didn't try different line combinations, different variations? Of course they did, but to sit there and I don't know, bitch and whine because Brown is playing top six, when NO ONE has displaced him, is ludicrous. Kaliyev might YET do that, but he's still learning the damn pro game, I have an idea, let's put our top young sniper, on the top line, you know, the one that faces top defensive draws, and then watch his confidence shrink to the size of a pea because he's not only not scoring, he's not even getting chances.

You guys severely underestimate the mental game, happens all the time on this board, let's bring up a guy with 50 pro games, let's throw him to the wolves, then wonder what's going on, same thing happened with Vilardi,

It's ok though, I'm just bitching at you guys to bitch at something...right, don't know f*** all about the game I spent 40 years in.

I didn't insult him, and I literally drew the line between his two dots,

Put Kaliyev our best sniper, on the PP two straight minutes because that's what Ovechkin does....

Tell me, what does that sound like to you, that he thinks Kaliyev is Ovechkin light, or.....what other conclusion is there?

And yes, it's absolutely batshit crazy to put a kid who hasn't played a full year pro, 82 games, out there for 2 straight minutes, because he doesn't have the conditioning for it, or the skating for it, this isn't rocket science.

What message matters? The one to the young players that says no matter what you do there is no room for you to play a meaningful role on this team because veterans have those spots and under no circumstance will they be given up. They wont be held accountable for their play but you will even if you are playing well.
In training camp they tried Fagemo in Browns place. He scored. We never saw him again.
Brown is one of the reasons the offense sucks yes. Along with the lack of a puck mover from the back end. And Danault isnt an offensive dynamo and Arvidsson is a bit of a selfish player that doesnt score enough to warrant it.

Respect, confidence, they all matter,

Of course Brown is one of the reasons, so is Kopitar, so is Danault, so is Kaliyev, so is Kupari, but again Brown, past 4 years is averaging 20 goals on an offensively challenged team, but you have a brand new shiny toy, let's play with that.

Could you imagine, what would happen if Matthews got demoted to 4th line because he was playing like shit, and he was, same with Crosby, Ovechkin etc.

Definitely not saying Brown is on the talent level of those players, but he is damn sure on the respect level, here's the message, if they can treat Brown like he doesn't matter when he's going through a tough streak, how the hell are they gonna treat me, why shouldnt I just put in my time and get the f*** out of dodge?

Yes Brown has been here almost 20 years its time to play with the shiny new toys. The bottom six is performing nearly as well as the top six leave them out of this.
He is nowhere near Matthews right now so no they dont command the same treatment. Weird comparison.

Shortly after Dean's interview with Bob Miller and said he was going to start treating the players more like commodities, he lost his job. I think Dean had finally figured it out.

By trading Dwight King and sitting on his hands? I wish he figured it out long before that, but it was too late.

No it isn't.

Richards just came off of three straight Conference Finals appearances and two Cups. He had an addiction and was being told to seek treatment.

Brown has won one stinking playoff game since that very moment in the cottage 7 years ago. He is old and it ain't coming back.

Richards was done. He was done half way through 13-14.

there's some kind of tremendous irony in chiding someone by making a "kaliyev = ovi" comment then immediately making a brown-matthews/crosby/ovi comment

lmao i'm out

It's the ancient art called "projection." Call people's arguments idiotic while defending your stance with idiotic arguments.

It's why I'll talk with those who want to have an actual discussion but won't waste my time with ostriches.

Ok, I'm just going to throw this out there. At this point the Kings don't need to draft high anymore. Sure it could help, but the holes that are left can be filled in free agency or through trade. You attract free agents by being competitive & by treating your vets with respect. Benching Brown for 20 games then demoting him to the AHL once the media forgets about him, is not the way to attract free agents.

So when you have to choose being competitive and treating vets with respect, what do you choose?

Because leaning on a 37 year-old Brown in your top-6 won't make you competitive.
