Thought this thread could use a bump. Not because I don't like Broberg (I do) or because I don't like St. Louis (they may be my 2nd fav team soon with all those Czechs) but because the Oilers and Blues are playing right now and I don't recall much noise about Bro after a lot of dunking on the Oilers.lol

3 points in his last 25 games.

Here is the rest of the Blue's D Core in the same time span... he's tied for last in points. with Suter and behind Tucker.

He's going to factor in on the game winning goal now. Gotta wait til the game is over to post something like this lol.

We don't have a proper right-handed defenseman to play with him. Faulk has been atrocious this year (don't look at the points alone and think that that's what makes a player good; Faulk has been atrocious defensively, and he's only getting points because he's on the top powerplay pairing), Parayko is on the top pairing with Fowler/Leddy, so that leaves little much for Broberg to work with. We need a talented right-handed defenseman who can eventually take over for Parayko - without Parayko, we are utterly caved in on the right side, which is why a lot of Blues fans are interested in Radim Mrtka on the draft thread or want to trade for Simon Nemec or Brandt Clarke, why we want to do something for our right side so Broberg has someone he can grow with and not put all of our eggs in the Adam Jiricek basket.

To my eye, Mrtka is more a complimentary Dman so he'd be good for Broberg but he will be years away! Nemec would be a tremendous get.. he's a victim of a deep blue line but he's an excellent guy who could step into a NHL lineup today. No, I'm not Slovak and this isn't my usual bias.. I'm just a big Nemec fan.

actually, Jiricek is a RHD who can really carry and control and you already have him in the pipe! But he's at least 2 years away (and that probably is my Czech bias talking.lol)

Yeah Faulk has been incredible the last few years, but another fall off from him. He managed to bounce back before, but turning 33 during a drop off is a bit scary.

Team really needs to find a youngish right handed dman whos ready to play, which is the hardest thing to find. Jiricek is a a long way away from playing IF he does pan out

I'd be more than willing to trade Zachary Bolduc (I'd prefer to trade Jake Neighbours, but I don't think Devils fans would want him and would rightfully ask for more, unless, some Devils fans out there are actually interested in a Neighbours/Nemec basis, in which case, I'd pay for the airport ticket.) and another highly rated prospect or younger player for Nemec. Bolduc, for whatever reason, isn't playing much. I don't know if he pissed in Montgomery's Frosted Flakes or something, but he's been healthy scratched a lot when we need all of the talent we can get.

Get a talented young right-handed defenseman that can grow with Broberg and be allowed to make mistakes and learn from them, and that solves a ton of problems for us.

EDIT: Yes, we do have Jiricek, but Parayko is not getting any younger, and we utterly lack right-handed defensemen in the pipeline aside from Jiricek (who is at least two or three years away and has injury concerns), William McIsaac (also two to three years away and was a fifth-round pick last year), and Matthew Kessel (who has been inconsistent at Springfield). We had Jeremie Biakabutuka, but he got dealt for Fowler and was a longshot to even be an AHLer.

IF????

Just kidding but he really projects well and has great skating (which is what is hurting his older brother who has the better shot). The recent prospects ranking actually put Adam ahead of David.

Yeah, agreed on all counts. I like Jiricek, but he's a longshot like any player.

Adam Jiricek is someone I like as a prospect a lot and has rubbed off on me in a positive way. He has excellent offensive instincts, and I think he'd fit perfectly on a pairing with someone like Theo Lindstein because they're both smart, heady players with great skating. But both are a few years out (Lindstein might come over next year and play a bit in Springfield), and I'm very much concerned about Jiricek's injury history; it's fairly lengthy for such a young career.

Which is why - along with the fact that development is almost never linear except when it isn't - I don't want to put all of my faith in Jiricek alone; we need a right-handed defenseman who can grow with the core we have.

For sure.. all that missed time is not a good thing at all for a teenagers development. It is concerning. His shot is a bit concerning too but I think he can develop that shot as he ages (ask your brother!). The skating and IQ is really high. He strikes me as a future 40 point Dman with a solid 2 way game. Time will tell though and good health is key. He needs a long healthy run to just play and CHL is perfect for him right now! Stay healthy and have a solid off season of training!

Of course there’s no noise about it. Look at all the troll likes and comments on page one alone.

Who’s laughing now bitches?😁

PS: I am aware 99% of the trolling here was not Blues fans but super-salty fans of our divisional rivals and the incels from a certain eastern Canadian fanbase who hate us cause they’re jealous we have McDavid.

At this point this thread would be twice as big if the Oilers had matched, and it'd be primarily about how stupid they were for doing it.
