How about Lemieux? Grundstrom? Arvidsson?

What I care more about is that the Kings power play is horrible, and has been for awhile.
I watched the Caps feed Ovechkin all PP long...I saw him play all 2 minutes on PP...I saw him on PP basically standing on the ice at the blue line and his spot upon entry.
We have a world-class elite sniper in Kalyev, with an incredible shot. On a team hurting for goals, esp PP.
Why in hell is he not in the exact same role as Ovechkin on the Kings...it couldn't be worse than what I'm watching.
(I thought Kovalchuk could have been used in the same role...but wasn't)

Lemeiux would be the only one, and you'd have to worry about him neutering the powerplay by taking a penalty,

Arvidsson is already on the PP, sometimes 1, sometimes 2, already playing 2:33 or something like that on average

I answered your question.
I would much rather have any of those three in front of the net than Brown.
I care about winning and production, not about hurt feelings of 37 year old legends.

But more than that, I would love to see Kalyev on PP for 2 minutes

It weighs both, genius. xGF% = xGF/xGA.

To make crystal clear all of the above--

Dustin Brown has the 4th most PP icetime on the team--just under Iafallo for 3rd at 77 minutes--and HAS NOT ONE POWER PLAY POINT. In 30 games, in a role where all he has to do it tap, tip, slap.

The only one 'taking punishment in front of the net' at this point is the team.

Why isn't this Lucas Edmonds on the Kingston Frontenacs signed yet? Dude has put up 52 points in 25 games this year and is ahead of Wright AND Chromiak. What gives?

Not true. My liver takes a f***ing beating every time we go on the powerplay. ;)

I’ll take literally any GM/coach who actually have a vision and an identity for the team that they want to execute. Anyone. The kids aren’t developing not only because they’re not playing but because they’re not being given any direction as to the identity/culture of the franchise and where they fit into that.
I was secretly into the idea of Bruce Boudreau before he got snapped up. He coaches to win and gets results. And if we are leaning on vets and losing, he would happily go in the opposite direction.

Guess we're never going to find out who was going to play in the next game.

Unless the "pause" is so the NHL and NHLPA can figure out what they are going to do, I don't understand what good a "pause" would do? Even shutting down the season until February is not going to do much unless you think everyone will have caught it by then and "We'll be good to go".

I really don't know why he gets so much PP time. That's not the appropriate use for him anymore. I don't care if he's Kopitar's security blanket.

To take it a step further, Dustin Brown has the most power play time without a point in the entire league, with 0 points in 77 minutes of power play time.

NHL Stats

The next closest player to Brown — Jeff Petry — has played 17 fewer minutes on the power play. Third worst is Nicolas Roy with 50 minutes of power play time.

That's honestly a crazy stat. How's that even possible?

(Well, fun fact, in 07-08, Jack Johnson finished the season 0 power play points in 92:56 power play time)

Who would you put in his place, that takes the punishment in front of the net etc?
Punishment?

Brown stands to the side of the net, not the front. There is no punishment.

That is where Kaliyev should be stationed, his hands and instincts are already so much better, that's the guy you want down low poaching quick second chances, certainly not out at the point.

Brown has 1 powerplay point in his last 51 games. If there is anything close to a statistical certainty, it is that he shouldn't be anywhere near a powerplay.

Need I remind everyone that currently the Kings pace out to 90+ points. Considering the last 3 years and all the current injuries, that's a massive improvement.

I think that's what started this whole conversation before it derailed, honestly, because the idea was that imagine how much more they could do if they weren't doing things like playing Kopitar 24 minutes a game, Brown on the PP, and so on.

With all the injuries, weirdness, and everything else, we'd have an uphill battle anyways, and they've certainly battled most nights; but when your bottom six is as productive as your top six in half the time, and is a damn generation younger, why is it so blasphemous to start moving some parts around

The youth is playing, while they might not be playing where everybody wants them playing in the lineup they are playing. Kings are the 8th youngest team in the league according to elite prospects.

Umm, he has been.....some of you seem very disconnected with what is actually going on.
