I mean, while I agree that he has a shelf life(like you said all coaches are hired to be fired), but I think it being proven over and over again is a little over exaggerated. He stepped down in Chicago to take care of his son and his last season there had a conference finals run. He was fired from the Sharks despite finishing 1st in the division the season before(by Deano no less). He transitioned to a GM with the Flames and finished 1st in the division his last season coaching. He was fired from the Kings and this one seems to be the most apparent shelf life example. Now he is back with the Flames and he has them 1st in the division so far. He really has only been fired as a coach twice and was wildly successful at each stop.

It’s proven that Sutter doesn’t have a shelf life, it’s the players that do.

So now that Edler is out long term and going Walker on the sidelines.. who do we target, what’s our asset limit in a trade or do we give Moverare a try at RD..
I know, we know and we all hate that Maatta is about to get done major run.. but we have to give to get right

Anderson-Doughty
Moverare-Roy
Bjornfot-Durzi
Maatta

The options
Giordano
Soucy
Provorov
Klingsberg
Miller
Or whom ever else you guys can come up with

I don't think you trade for a d man. I think you go internally and place him on the 3rd pairing.

Too bad Clague was claimed....if a D as good as Clague was waived, surely there must be one as good as him, that can be had for a 5th round pick?
I'd give up a 3rd for a good veteran, LHD; a level or 2 above MMAATTAA. Never thought Edler would be so good. What a blow.

LHD in Ontario: Wolanin and Moverare. Not sure if they would be better than Maatta.

I enjoy soucy as an option but I don't think we should be hucking around the assets it would take to land a guy like that

Like everyone is looking at Chiarot but Soucy is a much better value option, and with the market the way it is, teams will get what they want, Chiarot will get a late 1st from a contender, Soucy will get 2 2nds or a 2nd and a prospect

I don't think still having Clague on the roster would of soften the blow of losing Edler. Different player. Since they love Matta and Wolanin so much let's see if they can fill in. If not, it just further proves the incompetency of asset management from the front office.

Moverare should get the call up and you’ll need to split up Roy and Toby. Find an AHL veteran to fill Moverare’s shoes in the A. I agree, don’t trade assets for a mid player. Go for the big fish, maybe overpay a bit if you have to. Think long term, not short term

There's not a lot of depth options available really any better than Wolanin, frankly. I'd give Wolanin a shot (that's what he's for anyway) and a cup of coffee for Moverare after this roadie. But realize Wolanin/Durzi vs. the best in the league...woof. but you could make a move for, say, a guy like Pateryn with the gulls for veteran punching bag but is it really worth the assets for two weeks of games? I dont think the Kings are interested in slinging around picks and prospects for depth band aids right now. It's just painful it had to happen to another D instead of a forward lol.

Maybe the Wild would be interested in Kulikov or Benn since Addison needs to break in

Edit: Jarred Tinordi? heh

My personal favorite is Lauzon though

agree. You band-aid with what you have and go fishing for a big fish and hope you find it.

Madden and a 3rd for Soucy would be good value especially at his salary and the toughness he brings

Replacing Edler with Clague would have been a nightmare. We need size and if it isn’t Moverare then I’d be all for a Soucy trade

I'd rather go for Lauzon at that rate. Younger, tougher, great long-term depth option unlike anything we currently have.
I remember seeing a stat recently that Lauzon is one of the league leaders for defensemen in hits. That's a big plus considering what our blueline looks like.

Sens put Del Zotto on waivers. What about him? Dude is pretty jacked, not overly physical but great shape and popular team guy.

Wolanin? Lol. Strand over him.
