If Tarasenko had much value, Seattle would have taken him and used him to trade now or at TDL. They easily could have retained too making it more enticing for a contender. StL will need to pony up in some way (retain or attaching a pick) to unload him this off-season.

Or they just prefer Dunn long term to whatever asset they'd get for Tarasenko.

I'm not entirely positive they will have to retain or even attach a pick: depends on the team trading for him. Kings have the cap space and the contract is only two seasons so they could simply take it but basically give STL nothing for him.

Does it make him right? I already said he gets credit for putting MacDermid that high but, again, he had a different player as the guy he believed would be picked.

Technically, he was wrong since Wagner wasn't the pick but since the majority of people didn't think it would be MacD, he gets credit for putting him second on his list. If he put Grundstrom second on his list and that was the pick, nobody would be saying "Hoven nailed it!"

Ugh... I'll try to keep it short - If he put Grundstrom second on his list - of course he wouldn't get credit for that because lots of people had Grundstrom. That's the whole point. He predicted a player no one else would have thought possible and he had him as a high possibility, which leads me to believe the guy knows more than the average person does. So if you want to get really technical about it - he didn't "nail" it, because he didn't say 100% that it's MacD. How is this for you: Hoven came closer to nailing it than literally anyone else.

My concern is that there are eastern teams willing to pay full salary also. I assume if they have the choice, the Blues are going to want him out of the conference unless Kings are offering a little more.

he absolutely is, just look at ghost.

Without the botched surgery drama, are the Blues interested in trading him? Probably not. Ghost has been a healthy scratch and all that.

If Tarasenko is a cap dump, he's not the same kind as Ghost, and there's no way you get a 1st to take him.

Is Gostisbehere that bad now? Is there something about him we don't know?

A 28yo LHD. 2 year 4.5M contract. Scored at an 18 goal pace this season. How is his value this negative?

Receiving assets to take on his contract is a risk I would have happily seen the Kings take.
apparently we were in discussions as well as coyoates

Sounds like Tarasenko could be had for a second round pick if no salary is retained. But he hasn’t moved because the teams interested want some retention. LA is rumored to be a team in that mix which inquired.

My guess is Blake wants the type of production a good Tarasenko provides and is willing to spend some money on it. But he doesn’t want to be on the hook for the $15M in salary the next two years. If he pays Tarasenko $9.5M this season and the Kings suck right out of the gate, he’s reliving his Kovalchuk experience.

The mayor street team is relentless!

No real surprises there. I am still hoping that AA agrees to terms. Sounds like they want more money on a 2-year deal or they will accept the deal if they added more years but Blake is standing his ground, which I support. Still, he was one of the few bright spots, especially during the first half of the season and he is practically the only forward outside of Kopitar that is an even-strength threat.

I wish the best for Luff and Rymsha though. Both worked quite hard for the organization and could never make it work.

Tarasenko sounds like he has a chip on his shoulder (no pun intended). A guy who's got something to prove, and is due for another contract soon, is usually a guy that's gonna play his best hockey.

If he really is healthy like his camp claims, he'll be plenty productive wherever he goes.

Eklund is saying the Kings are trying to move Lemieux.

Take it for what it’s worth.

Undaunted…the street team pushes on. Throwing a party every time their hero is right, even partially.
You and the other street team members keep up the good work. I’m sure someday your guy will rise up and become relevant, maybe even recognized! Then all these years promoting him on the boards will be worth it.
Maynard you've never been relevant, but hey, there's always tomorrow.

But then again,
