Ziggy you know a few people on here would come flying off the top rope with a 4x4 contract...

Gotta save that contract for the next Alyn McCauley, who somehow got a three-year, $6,000,000 contract, and wound up appearing in 10 games and having his contract bought out a year later.

The Kings clearly need more of those types of players.

I guess one positive thing about McCauley is that he got to appear in some regular season games, unlike Valeri Bure.

Kids need to learn to bring the fire and physicality themselves. The cup corps while old and less motivated sure did when they were young.

Brown hit anything and everything from day 1 in the nhl.

Doughty talked trash and did Blake like hip checks.

Quick was quick (heh) to get his temper going and grab skaters and tackle them.

The next batch needs to learn to push back on their own. I liked Vilardi when he went after the guy that nailed him at the end of the season.

This army needs a couple criminals.
I'm over getting players deported, others losing their ability to cross an international boarder, pool party incidents, trashcan gate, just hockey without the drama.

On D, Martinez & Mike Reilly (UFA's) wouldn't be bad. Could look to the team that signs Dougie & if they need to move a player out. M. Reilly if Dougie signs in TO for instance.

Forward, seems like Schwartz, Eberle, Reinhart, type. Mid range player that's cheap.

Curious where cap dumps like Drouin & T. Johnson end up.

Why even overpay for him? That would be completely unnecessary and nonsensical.

He's rarely ever healthy, and has one goal and 11 points in the last two seasons, in which he's appeared in 72 games total.

Bogosian is coming off a one-year deal in which he made $1,000,000. I'd love to hear how much you'd be willing to overpay on someone who will rarely even be on the ice.

I said this already in the past week, but Kings fans sure love dumpster diving. Maybe the Kings should also overspend on Luke Schenn.

“Overpay” doesn’t mean throwing the brinks truck at a 3rd pair guy, it means beating a competitive offer.

Context man. Context.

That core was a gutless bunch of vanilla until the actual leadership was brought in.

Stoll, Greene, Williams, Scud, Mitchell, Richards; all brought in from outside to bring that winning attitude.

You don’t just “learn” that in your mid 20’s, you’ve either got it or ya don’t.

Caps in a pinch with OV's contract up & NYI clearing close to 20M in the last week. How do we feel about Orlov? 5.1M X 2 years, UFA. Term not great, would need to extend next summer.

He's 20 years old, so good to go already.
That doesn’t mean anything.. he still have some things to iron out, having said that, He should be up by the ASG and stay up.. this team is in no position nor in any rush to ruin there future. Once we see what Blake and the FO have in store trade/UFA wise, then it’ll be easier to see when and where Kaliyev plays. The kid isn’t going to be brought up to play with Kopi or along side Vilardi…
Edit: you are right that he’s AHL eligible, just saying that’s where he should be based on what I said above… and I obviously misunderstood your reply!

Kaliyev written all over

Let me know if I'm wrong, but Kaliyev is already 20 yrs old and can play in the AHL this season. The rule would only affect Byfield, which most agree he'll be in LA anyway.

The latter two are correct.

Kaliyev is already AHL eligible by age.

Byfield is AHL eligible by games played (based off info provided)

Martin Chromiak is NOT AHL eligible. He's under 20 and didn't play enough AHL games, and he was drafted out of the OHL.

What about Kasper Simontaival?

What about Kasper Simontaival?

Coming from Europe so doesnt apply to him

Depends if he was part of the CHL import draft. I am not sure how those rules are affected.

While he was drafted in the CHL import draft, I don't believe he ever signed a contract with his CHL team (otherwise he would have been loaned to his pro team). So he follows European eligibility.

I didn’t mind Schenn in his limited time here. The pickens are mighty slim when it comes to fa dmen with some snarl.

How many "insiders" are there?

The claim isn't that he has never been right before, it's just that he misses on bigger ticket items a lot. Credit for having MacD in the conversation but, again, he did not say he was going to be the pick.

This isn't a home run but he did get on base at least with this one. If there winds up being a side deal, he gets picked off.
He gave a weighting based on his sources as McDermid 2nd most likely and Wagner as most likely. He then pumped the tyres on Lizotte from his own perspective. He separated what he thought might happen from what he’d do pretty clearly.

In free agency, you either get in a huge bidding war, or dumpster dive for the crumbs left over after the first day. There's pretty much no in between.

It's true. I know everyone here hates on him for whatever reason (no need to reply with why, don't care) but I listened to the podcast before the draft and he was the only one I heard mention MacD and he talked about and said that he had heard from insiders that it may very well be him. You've got to give credit where it's due on this one, even if you hate the guy. Having Wagner at 27% and MacD at 23% doesn't make him wrong. Means they were the two they were considering the most. He knocked it out of the park on this. For God's sake, there was a Twitter account dedicated to convincing Seattle to take MacD (which was great) that's how much of a joke it seemed last week.
