If Lewis didn't have stone hands the Kings would have won 9 Cups...

I liked MacDermid. He did get exposed standing up on the left side in the 1-3-1 due to the lack of aggression up ice, but who didn't?

Yup. I'm not up in arms. I think he was wrongfully blamed for not being a better player. And I liked him for what he did - tough, but didn't try to injure players. Like a poor man's Clifford. He was a throwback type of player the league should have more of.

Does the pick hurt less than other possibilities? Sure. Are the Kings softer? Yes. Are the Kings going to have a playoff-bound team as a result of this pick? Not by this alone - they have a lot of work to do.

Now who's going to be the 2-3 players heading to Seattle...Madden,Thomas,Lizotte,Wagner,Frk,Wolanin,Strand,Lemieux,Vallalta,Hrenak...all of the above?

That's
They can have Wagner. :D
That's it? I ashamed of you for just giving up Wags I at least feel for Seattle and would give them some "ineligible expansion" players just to get the building of their talent pool in AHL a head start

They could sign RFAs but they would count as their pick, so AA can't be one of them if the MacDermid rumors are true (unless Blake made a trade).

That's right, thanks. I was assuming MacD is the guy, but I guess we don't know that yet. I totally forgot the UFA period isn't until next Wednesday.

Praise Jah! The Kings didn’t lose a player to Seattle who still has upside. MacD was not a part of the future, so subtracting him from the roster eases the logjam. And it takes one of the safe role player options away from coach Todd. So it’s on him to work with the young talent and put them in positions to grow.

I think the toughness angle isn’t met with one or two players. You need grit and toughness throughout the lineup. And again it’s on the coaches to put players into roles that build on their skill sets. MacD is a great fighter, but the Kings need help in other areas to get better.

Taking a step back on the toughness front shouldn’t be an excuse for not getting better results next year.

We’re soft as hell now, with an exception of Lemieux, but he’s more of a middleweight…

Exactly. The D is really soft...

Doughty-Anderson
Clague-Roy
Bjornfot-Walker
Maata

I know I say it as a joke but I wonder if the Kings keep Imama as an extra forward with tough teams. If the planned on converting MacD to forward. Just rid of 1-2 of Wagner, Lizotte, Grunstrom then they can have a 4th line of Lemieux-JAD-Moore and occasionally rotate in Imama.

Oleksiak would’ve been a nice add. Right now the d seems super redundant to me. Like Bjornfot, Anderson and Roy are all too similar.

This years roster is going to need a massive injection of balls before any meaningful progress is made towards competing.

I damn sure would like to see an O’Donnell type guy be brought in to start that process, but I haven’t the slightest idea of who would be reasonably attainable.

“Flat” doesn’t even begin to describe the pulse of this club, and the only hope of that was just claimed, however lacking in talent he was.

Bogosian for two years, if he is willing to play out West.

I have always been somewhat hesitant to board the bogo train, but with the cap space we have, I’d gladly over-pay on a two year deal to get him here & anchor that third pair.

Someone with a bit of fight in them, to show the kids what it means to truly give a shit, is absolutely invaluable. Greene-lite.

And he comes with Stanley Cup pedigree. Another guy in the room who knows what it takes to go the distance never hurts. He’s a fine bottom pair guy.

Another name I would look at is David Savard. He'd be a little pricey, I think, but could definitely anchor a line for a few years. Maybe not ideal, but worth a look. The downside is he's not the ideal age for the core, but I think Bjornfot and Anderson could pick up a lot from a player like him.

Why even overpay for him? That would be completely unnecessary and nonsensical.

He's rarely ever healthy, and has one goal and 11 points in the last two seasons, in which he's appeared in 72 games total.

Bogosian is coming off a one-year deal in which he made $1,000,000. I'd love to hear how much you'd be willing to overpay on someone who will rarely even be on the ice.

I said this already in the past week, but Kings fans sure love dumpster diving. Maybe the Kings should also overspend on Luke Schenn.
