At the time, I said the best option for the Kings was ROR. I think I was right about that. Whether or not it made sense to give up assets for him is another topic all together.

I've maintained since 2015 that the best option for them has been McDavid. I am 10000000% sure I'm right about that.

How are they need this guy, and the cost or opportunity to get that guy, different topics?

All right, here's a discussion that's not Lombardi related:

How done is Subban? I don't watch him a lot and I assume he's just never going to be great again. NJ wants to move him apparently, if Seattle doesnt take him (which could work from a pr perspective.)

So, I have no interest in the guy, but wondering if anyone has been paying more attention to him and think he would be worth looking at.

No reason whatsoever to add Subban. He's basically Walker, if not a more expensive, older, and worse version. If you just want a more recognizable name though, sure.

If Seattle is in fact taking Gourde from TB, I'd love to add him depending on the cost. Would have loved Blake to get him from TB directly (assuming Gourde waived for LA).
Kempe - Gourde - Moore would be a killer checking line that could also score

We'll see what Sea does, but the Kings have nothing of value other than prospects and picks, and Sea is probably going to try and be competitive in year 1.

Yeah right. These aren't surface level references. Mods on here need to step up

Feel free to sign up, there's only two of us and we're pretty sick of crying over spilled milk.

I'm not going to do shit about a thread tangentially related to the current situation in the absolute depths of the offseason unless people start teeing off on each other.

Are you okay?

I was never a message board moderator, but I was a chat room moderator. Volunteering so everyone can have a good time is something I recommend people do so they learn not to dunk on the mods.

You let things go, you're accused of not doing a good (free) job. You tighten the reins, you get accused of favoritism and/or totalitarianism.

I know you're not asking for it, but the work of you and kingsboy11 are greatly appreciated.

well that settles that

Clague, Strand, and Moverare are not waiver eligible anymore. Should be interesting.

Yeah that's quite the pickle. It'd suck to lose some of them for nothing after dodging the expansion draft.

I think Moverare can probably pass through waivers. Seems unlikely for Clague. Strand is hard to predict, he looked good in his limited time at the NHL level but his AHL career seems so-so from what I've read from @regulate and others who watch the Reign.

I'll miss MacDermid on the Kings, but will enjoy watching him on the Kraken.

I don't have jerseys of other teams, but I do have two MacDermid jerseys. That Seattle jersey is pretty fun so a MacDermid jersey wouldn't be a bad thing.

There's still probably better ways to spend $200, like lighting it on fire, but it's at least a thought.

They can try all they want but teams have learned from Vegas and by the looks of it, Seattle is going to be terrible unless they can convince some key free agents to sign there.

Blake is the GM. He puts together the roster. This is the roster thread. Blake gets talked about and someone, eventually, always brings up his predecessor in some sort of comparison, be it specific moves or philosophy.

Has it been beaten to death? Sure. Posting fantasy lineups with three UFAs and two trades has been tired since the internet was created. You all can choose to ignore analysis of something that actually happened: I'll ignore the fantasy lineups.

When something actually happens to the roster or there is a sourced rumor, I'm sure we'll all dive in.

Exactly! the two will always go hand in hand. Just like Taylor vs Lombardi before it. And I'm sure it will continue as the roster shapes out over the years. as i said earlier, how Blakes roster will be put together and its success/failure will always bring DL into a thread about the it.

They haven't even hit the cap floor yet. More moves are coming as well as free agency.

Anti-Hoven crowd won’t remember this. The only insider to have Macdermid as a real possibility.

How many "insiders" are there?

The claim isn't that he has never been right before, it's just that he misses on bigger ticket items a lot. Credit for having MacD in the conversation but, again, he did not say he was going to be the pick.

This isn't a home run but he did get on base at least with this one. If there winds up being a side deal, he gets picked off.

Was fairly confident that Seattle wasn't going to take MacDermid. I'm sad to see him leave because I know he was well like in the room despite his deficiencies, but ultimately I think the Kings are more than fine with this. But again the issue crops up with the complete lack of size and grit within this roster becomes even more apparent now. There's a reason McLellan played him against Calgary and Anaheim a lot.

Also all these insiders revealing who's getting picked by Seattle is killing any sort of suspense. I don't recall this happening when Vegas was making their roster.

I think one of the guys on the nhl network called Mcd a high probability because there was a connection with someone in the front office.

Heads up BK, both members of the mayor’s street team will be patrolling the boards letting us know their favorite blogger was half right about something today.
