The ignore button is easy to find if you don't like what I'm saying, champ.
If only it were that easy.

The reality is, at the end of the day it's not just one thing, it's a myriad of issues this team looks to be struggling with right now. That's why it looks silly as fans because everyone seems like they have a solution "when so and so comes back, the other guy will get going" or "if we just had a puck moving defenseman our transition game would be better and result in more wins". Yes there has been injuries, perfect opportunities for younger guys to step in. Yet no one has. "The coach is living in another dimension" and "Blake has no vision, no identity for this team."

All these frustrations culminating as the team can't even seem to fathom a pulse or show some sense of pride and we're just 6 games in to boot. It's a scary place to be and not how a lot here were expecting it to go, myself included. Top it off, no real sign of any one thing that is going to turn this around long term.

Look, if you can stomach this team as is and find positives out of it, you are one of the few and proud, more power to you.

they should play this on repeat in the locker room

like, was that really that high effort of a hit? no. just denied smith the free dump that he was expecting, all by taking one stride and lowering the shoulder

our guys would no question just wave a stick at that or not even bother and just glide to the bench

That lack of physical play is probably the most agitating aspect of the Kings. Not scoring goals in one thing. Allowing too many goals is another. The fly-by stuff when it comes to taking the body, it's not easy to get momentum back if you don't do that. You have to instead rely on skill, and this team obviously has very little higher end skill to sustain anything like that.

It's not about finding positives really in this discussion for me. I'm very disappointed in what's going on, especially considering the goal of a faster team was supposed to be a more offensive one and, aside from game one, we've shown very few flashes of offensive anything and instead seem to be back to the 1-3-1 days. That will come I hope with Byfield, Turcotte, Kaliyev, etc. in the next few years, but in the cap era it shouldn't take as long as it has to teardown and rebuild a playoff level team as it has here. At 1-4-1, it's not looking very promising, but I said I'd give it until the quarter mark before making to much of a judgement and I'll stick to it. If this continues for the next 15 games though, especially if we get healthy during that time, my defense of TM will likely start to slide a fair bit.

I do think we need more physicality, I just don't agree with where it needs to show itself. I want to see a guy or two like Foligno, Wilson, Reaves, whoever to establish us as a hard hitting squad that teams need to look over the shoulder for once in a while. I'm not as concerned, at least right now, about the responses to a hit like the ones we're talking about. What matters there is in the locker room if the guys can look around at the other guys and feel they'd have each others back. If they feel like that, then I'm good with it because they are.

The state of Kings fans today mirrors the Roenick season. A bunch of people drank the koolaid and are waking up to getting roofied. The rest try to analyze the problems and find a reason that fits their personally favorite narrative.

Just like 15+ years ago the issue is incompetent leadership. Once a plurality of fans arrive at the common sense conclusion of what ails the team, the sooner there is a chance to move onto better days.

Physicality and aggressiveness needs to show itself everywhere from the bench to the goal crease (micro/macro), the non responses to borderline hits is just the twisting of the knife. If that other shit was going on like, idk, maybe an open ice hit once every few games we'd have a less of a leg to stand on I suppose but there's not even that going on.

Again, what are you expecting? Hakanpaa is ejected. You want them to go Mike Milbury with a shoe down the hallway?

You joke but that would be pretty sweet

Thank you.

No free ice. That's all.

jeff carter was the last one throwing big hits and that should tell us everything

Someone should make a parody of Kings biggest hits of 2021 and it's just a highlight real of players skating past potential would be hits on any other normal team placing professional ice hockey. You could prob find all the footage you'd need in 1 game too.

It feels like a punch in the gut to hear someone you cheer for on a nightly basis have his playing career put on hold/in doubt. Get well soon doughty, but Walker.... man you're in my prayers tonight. He deserves so much better than he's gotten the past 2 seasons.

my god that’s horrific… what’s the most GA for a team in a season?

The 05-06 team started the season 6-2-0. In March they were sitting solidly in a playoff spot with a 35–23–5 record. They finished the season 42–35–5.

I don't think the current team will get close to that.

what’s the over/under on these guys getting traded because the season is lost and some of the kids will require full time minutes soon
