Just because there are injuries and the season is likely blown doesn't mean the org loses sight of what the team can become. It's frustrating after seeing some promising stuff in the preseason, but whatever.

Assets need to be moved to acquire 2 defensemen in their mid-20's. Roy and Walker have done well, but eventually, you need two guys to go with Anderson, Bjornfot, Clarke, and Doughty. Teams don't generally trade those types, but with how our prospects are thought of it shouldn't be impossible. We can effort to overpay a bit to get our guy.

The forward position should sort itself out, there are a good amount of pathways to take there. I do feel some of the pure skill guys should be moved if they don't learn how to be pissy and stick up for your team. We know damn well the most skilled team doesn't always win.

Goalie will need to be addressed when the time comes. Cal is fine, but he's not as good as Quick right now. If he keeps developing, great. If not, it shouldn't be that painful to fix.

This is a great opportunity for the team to pull together and show the mental toughn...

Sorry, couldn't finish that with a straight face.

f***ing brutal for Walker. Puck in the face last year and misses a major chunk of the season and now ACL/MCL in one fell swoop. Have to feel for him, it'll be extremely hard for him to come back from this.

Doughty being out 8 weeks is going to kill the season. If it was any other player you could have the players all take up the slack, but no one can do that for Doughty. You just can't replace him.
I'm surprised people here are not upset with Perron. You can see he squeezes his legs to hold/tackle Walker. To me that's a dirty play. Where the hit on Doughty was not dirty just unfortunate.

That's the first thought that came up to me in the GDT, given Perron's reputation for being a sneaky, cheap dirtbag. It was more than just a collision, and Perron didn't accidentally lock his legs together.

I'm not hearing much about this year's draft class at all, but it's pretty early still.

Shane Wright is the early projected No. 1 pick. He was teammates with Brandt Clarke in AAA and current teammate of Martin Chromiak.

An arguably pedestrian start to the season for a highly ranked pick, with 6 points in 6 games. But he didn't play at all last year, save for the U-18s where he scored 14 points in 5.

It could be like 2017 though where someone out of nowhere supplants him. Or maybe he will pick up steam as the routine gets reestablished.

Another top prospect, Brad Lambert, is also off to a very slow start. He only has 2 points in 12 Liiga games. Incidentally, he's teammates with Kings 2021 pick Samuel Helenius.

I'd still give it some time for play to pick up. The media is also prepping for the Michkov/Bedard battle next year.

Anderson-Roy
Bjornfot-Clague?
Elder-Strand
Matta

my god that’s horrific… what’s the most GA for a team in a season?

Too bad all of the top D prospects are a year or 2 away:
Clarke, Faber, Grans, Spence, Nousiainen. I could see Faber signing after his season ends and actually join the Kings in March. May be better suited in Ontario,
but with Walker out all year, maybe they give him some games...also being that he's RHD.

Don't disagree with keeping it in-house. Force the team figure it out. Better 6 games in than 60.

Not many alternatives to keeping it in-house. No cap, you could make a depth move to try and keep things steady. With a cap, you can't add much assuming Doughty will be back. Some extra room with no Walker, but it'll get you a Walker type.

Ya'll remember when we iced:

Muzzin-Doughty
Mitchell-Voynov
Martinez-Greene/Regehr

Good times.
Do any of the current D crack that lineup? I don't think so. Said they needed D this offseason and I think we'll see it play out badly while Doughty is out.

It's time for divine intervention

Dear Eight Pound, Six Ounce, Newborn Baby Jesus, don't even know a word yet, just a little infant, so cuddly, but still omnipotent, just lookin' at your Baby Einstein developmental videos, learnin' 'bout shapes and colors and sexually transmitted diseases. I would like to thank you curing my mama's ringworm, and also ask that Clague play over Maata.

I like Christmas Jesus the best.

Well, playoffs were always a toss-up or less to begin with but this is all she wrote for the season. I wish I could say that the season is over though but, unfortunately, it isn't over: there are still 70 something games left.

ACLs aren't as bad of an injury for hockey players but Walker wasn't a stud to begin with. Will be interesting to see how he recovers from this but it isn't good for his career from even just the missed reps part of it: never mind the injury recovery.

I've been bemoaning the "New NHL" for years and was doing so back during the Cup runs. I shouted from the rooftops that it is a horrible product if your team sucks. Back in the day, your loser team still had balls and played physical because everyone had balls and played physical. Now? If your team isn't competitive than it is a horrible product: especially in person. Really loving my season seats right now.

They say the NHL isn't a developmental league...Kings need to turn it in to one this season. The solution to this problem isn't to play Maata one more minute: we know what he is, he is trash and he isn't part of the future.

While typing that, I just realized how soft the defense is. Holy f***ing shit man. I already thought we did but it is confirmed now: worst stretch of Kings hockey ever. You almost have to strain to like any of these guys outside of the Cup dudes and the Cup dudes mostly haven't done themselves any favors during this stretch either. Wheeeee!
