I expected Perron to collect his bag. He deserves it. I just hope his cap space is not used to sign Leddy.
If he's gonna leave, I hope he gets PAID as he deserves it.
I want Perron to stay a Blue, but given his age, I don’t blame Armstrong for not wanting to go higher on AAV.So within two years time we could be minus Perron and Tarasenko? Let’s hope there is another Buch and ROR out there for us to acquire.
We could go from offense being a boon to a weakness if we don’t see some fresh blood come in.

He almost certainly has number and term he won’t go beyond. Either DP signs within that or he leaves.Army was willing to let Backes and Petro go. It shouldn’t surprise anyone he is willing to let a 34 year old go if necessary.
Yeah, there is a lot that could happen in two years time. If anything though, reading between the lines, I don’t think Army and Stillman are in favor of scorched earth rebuilds. They seem to believe in maintaining a competitive environment and retooling. Army started in that direction already with Buch coming in and Schwartz headed out. If he can keep trending younger then maybe we avoid the fall off the cliff. But a lot has to go right in that direction too.O'Reilly and Barbashev could be gone, too. We're seriously looking at a heavy reload. Even if they do really well on a Tarasenko trade, they'll need a lot of other things to go right immediately. Binnington needs to kick ass and Neighbours needs to hit. Then they'll need more than one of doing well in free agency, O'Reilly staying on a sweetheart deal or being traded at the deadline for a good return, and Bolduc and Hofer hitting.
Maybe some other depth guys (Alexandrov, Toropchenko, Bitten???) graduating will stem the tide, but if they can't afford Perron now, then I'm not confident they'll hang onto any of the other UFA's. They simply must get value for them rather than squeezing out just one more year.
Is anyone surprised? I wouldn’t wager many feel that way. I think it’s more a want to keep the good times going and Perron is part of that or has been.Army was willing to let Backes and Petro go. It shouldn’t surprise anyone he is willing to let a 34 year old go if necessary.
No need to rebuild. But flat caps squeezing lots of good teams. DA has been pretty clear in foreshadowing that Neighbours and Bolduc need to step in and step up in next couple years and that Kyrou and Thomas need to take reigns bc they aren’t gonna have guys like tank and Perron around much longer. There is place for Perron but it’s at number and term that works in this plan.Yeah, there is a lot that could happen in two years time. It’s a shame because we are not far off from competing for a Cup with the current roster, but the cap and contracts are about to make that very difficult.
He’dIf Perron was 30, this would be an easy decision. He’s get signed
So are we going to let Tarasenko walk in a year too?Army was willing to let Backes and Petro go. It shouldn’t surprise anyone he is willing to let a 34 year old go if necessary.
It’s not nothing. We get cap space for other key guys. And rather than dumping them early we use them as own rentals to be better now. That is what good teams do in flat cap era.So are we going to let Tarasenko walk in a year too?
It’s getting to be upsetting the amount of talent we are willing to let go for nothing. We NEED to start acquiring assets for guys that we know won’t be returning, otherwise our window will shut a lot quicker.
Who else let’s as many guys as we do walk? Backes, Perron, Pietrangelo, Schwartz, Hoffman, possibly Tarasenko/Barbashev, etc? Other teams are not doing this. It’s not nothing. We didn’t want any of those guys on contracts they signed. We wanted them for playoff runs before. We’ve dealt stats and shat for picks when they were gonna walk. It’s a case by case deal, but we fans don’t know what offers were for Schwartz or hoff. If they had 1st they passed on at deadline was probably mistake. If it was late 2nd or worse probably made more sense to take our shot. Lightning and Avs have good players walking too. It’s cost of competing.Who else let’s as many guys as we do walk? It is nothing. We could gain cap space AND assets by moving them. I agree with not trading some of them (Backes, Pietrangelo, Perron) because we were competing. But we should have moved Schwartz and Hoffman last year, and we should also move Tarasenko and Barbashev if they won’t be back in a year. The writing is on the wall for both and we continue to stall.
And when should we have traded those guys? Do you really think Army should have traded Perron at last years deadline lol? The season before each of them left, the Blues were a good team that had an opportunity to win. This board would have rioted if we sold those guys in the summer and probably at the deadline too. Hoffman is the only one I can see. Its pretty clear that Army has and im sure still is trying to move Tarasenko but hes not going to take scraps. Nor should he.Who else let’s as many guys as we do walk? Backes, Perron, Pietrangelo, Schwartz, Hoffman, possibly Tarasenko/Barbashev, etc? Other teams are not doing this.

Oh no. How are we possibly gonna replace mediocre 4th liners?!?!Per Strickland, Dakota Joshua is walking into the UFA market on Wednesday, along with our other UFA’s.
I wonder what Armstrong’s plan is because things are not looking good at all as we currently sit here. Aside from the Perron and LHD situations, if you let Bozak and Joshua go, and Toropchenko will miss some time due to his injury, what kind of 4th line are we going to have again?

What has Kostin ever done? He has been handed job and lost it to nobodies. Sorry, but he was missed draft pick.Kostin needs to be on it. Also, Neighbors will take a top 9 spot and run with it.
Kostin needs to actually play like he wants to be in the NHL before he needs to be anywhere in the NHL roster.Kostin needs to be on it. Also, Neighbors will take a top 9 spot and run with it.

If he can win a role I’m all for it. But I think it’s more likely than not he’s gone by this time next year. The 4th line is a good start
