There's a few scenarios:
1. Strickland is right, and Army has no intention of trading Tarasenko. This means Perron walks, and the true end goal of this off-season is to ensure we have maximum cap flexibility when ROR, Thomas, and Kyrou need new deals.
2. We have sort of an agreement with Perron, and he's willing to wait a day or so to see if Army creates cap space with a Tarasenko trade to a team that lost out on Gaudreau. The risk here is that either Army is still unable to make a trade that he likes and/or Perron loses out on his plan B destination, or Perron gets an offer he can't refuse and takes it somewhere else.
3. A combo of deals get done before free agency starts.
