I love the idea of redesigning the fourth line. Especially with Toropchenko out to start the season, adding a player or two like Blackwell, Hinostroza, or Rooney would be sensible if the cap works. I also wouldn’t be opposed to upside driven signings like Steel, Gaudette, or Dahlen.

Oh no. How are we possibly gonna replace mediocre 4th liners?!?!
So what's your plan for the 4th line then? I'm all ears.

And when should we have traded those guys? Do you really think Army should have traded Perron at last years deadline lol? The season before each of them left, the Blues were a good team that had an opportunity to win. This board would have rioted if we sold those guys in the summer and probably at the deadline too. Hoffman is the only one I can see. Its pretty clear that Army has and im sure still is trying to move Tarasenko but hes not going to take scraps. Nor should he.
Can you read? I never said to trade Perron. I said Schwartz and Hoffman (should have been moved at the 2021 deadline since it was obvious that team wasn't a Cup contender) and should move Tarasenko and Barbashev this offseason. Pretty simple. The only people rioting would have been the fans that don't have a clue what's going on.

When you trade your soon to be UFA's you're giving up on chances in the playoffs. We are not and never have been a team that chose to tank for high draft picks.

There's no middle ground between tanking and being a playoff team? Lmao okay then. You are missing the point.

If you always trade your UFA's then you don't have a chance in the playoffs. The Blues do not tank and always give it their best shot. Advocating for trading UFA's to get picks might as well be advocating for tanking.

I’m good with guy like Joshua on 4th line but has to be at right $. We are so tight against cap kinda need to bring 4th line at neighborhood of 2.5mm or less. Toro when he gets healthy is good option. Neighbours or brown if not in top 9. There should be veterans available looking for roles who don’t have better offers, like Neal last year. We are good team with good rep around league, I suspect we won’t have trouble finding 4th line guys who want to play here.

Namestikov would be a solid pickup for depth. But, I also think the 4th line is going to have a severe overhaul this offseason. I dont see Bozie Back, Toro is going to be out of action for a bit.

So long as we don’t intend to play him on regular basis, I am fine with him eating toasted ravioli in press box while better players dress.
Namestnikov has put up multiple 30+ point seasons in the NHL. He can win a 3rd line spot on a number of teams, he won’t come here as a cheap depth piece.

It’s hard to see us being able to afford any good 4th liners. We will probably be going after the table scraps.

He doesn’t fit profile of bottom 6 guy on blues. I’m not saying he isn’t nhl player, just that i don’t want him to be one of our top 9 and don’t want him on our 4th. I’d rather build 4th from the table scraps.

Army was willing to let Backes and Petro go. It shouldn’t surprise anyone he is willing to let a 34 year old go if necessary.

You say that at if Backes and Petro had no say in the matter. If a player wants to chase max money the team only has two options, submit to the demand or let them get overpaid elsewhere. Vegas will regret the Petro deal just like Boston regretted signing Backes.

I just hope they don't try to low-ball Perron too much, he deserves to get paid what he is worth. I think he's just at important to our success as Tarasenko if not more.

Adding Alexandrov to the 4th line, plus Mac Mac. We have the players on cheap contracts and ECLs to help fill out the roster.

Trading Scandella would be great but I am not holding my breath. DA must not be willing to pay whatever price it will take to dump him as of now. UFA hasn't even opened yet obviously, so I'm not worrying, but with Perron likely walking I am interested to see what the plan is at this point.

I've been wondering lately where Logan Brown fits in. Despite a few flashes he didn't show me that much last year, but I'm not sure we'll be able to slip him though waivers again. I imagine he makes the team, but it might be his last chance to make it with the Blues. Not an ideal bottom six player but maybe his experience last year showed him what he needs to do to stick in the league.

I also think Walker deserves another look, and Mac is fairly reliable. I wonder if Kostin watched Toropchenko and learned what the Blues need from him. Whatever happens with the fourth line it needs to form an identity rather than just being a rotating mix of guys thrown together.

seems more and more likely DP57 will be gone. hope thats not the case but we cannot afford to pay a ton of money to someone like him. so unless he takes a team friendly deal, guess it is time for him to go.
