Durzi certainly has the potential to run the PP, but is defense is a work in progress. I expect another full-year for Durzi next season in the AHL, but he needs to win the job and play every night. He's often a healthy scratch. I'd put Clague above Durzi as far as running the PP at this point, both have skill, but it's their defense play that will get them to the next level.

As we keep winning the more i feel Drysdale is who we will draft. The best defenseman in this draft and hes on the left side. However the question is When will be be ready for nhl ? next year ? or some time in ahl ? or full year ahl? whats the general consensus

I’ve read a few places people feel Drysdale is better than Bowen, last years consensus highest rated defenseman and current #1 prospect. I’m feeling Drysdale or Raymond.

Drysdale is a righty. Would need at least another year in junior but would be Doughty's long term replacement.

I know this won't be a popular opinion but I am not sold on Drysdale being more than a 2/4 dman at the next level. I have seen him play in person a couple of times and several of his games and while I think he is a good man at the level he plays at and certainly has a solid two way aspect to his game he fades allot and has average hand speed. He is a good skater but not elite when compared to his peers. He has solid defensive instincts but but not intuitive play reading skills like the very elite have or seem to have. I like him a ton and think he will be an NHLer but am just not sold on what he will become as he matriculates on to the next level. I get it wrong sometimes and maybe I have it wrong now but I am not as sold on him as some seem to be.

I'm hoping we draft a F first.
1.) Laffy
2.) Byfield
3.) Stutzle
4.) Rossi
5.) Holtz
6.) Drysdale
7.) Raymond
8.) Perfetti

And then I'm hoping we take Jake Sanderson in the mid 1st by trading up.

Jake Sanderson is not as flashy as the typical 1st round dman but he has size, great speed, and is one of the best pure defensive prospects ive ever seen. He's going to be a great #2 dman. And is a realistic trade up target

Always wanted LA to get his dad (Geoff) when he was playing.

with this team on fire, i am revising my exception to about 6-9 spot (worst case when we lose the draft again).

Let's not forget that our six game winning streak is coming hot on the trail of our three-points-in-twelve-games losing streak. I would be surprised if we finish higher than fifth.

I agree with this assessment as well, from my limited viewings (saw and recorded the prospect game, youtube vids) and when you also factor in his lack of size, I'd rather draft one of the many top forwards. If there was a legit elite defenseman, that would be different. While it would be GREAT to draft a #1 defenseman, you can't reach for one, if one is not there....the Kings are looking pretty good on depth at D. Sure, would be great to have an elite one, but you must draft BPA.

Bjornfot may well develop more offense. Also know that Jordan Spence (RHD, Moncton QMJHL) and Kim Nousiainen, (LHD Kalpa Liiga) are both 19 and both are having great seasons. Spence has been called the best defenseman in the QMJHL and was just named defenesman of the month in the Q...and Nousiainen had a good WJC with Finland and is getting top minutes as a 19 yr old in Liiga and putting up a lot of points, the last 2 months. These 2 players would go in round 2, if the draft was redone. The Kings had an insane draft and Yannetti and scouts put their mark on the next decade for the Kings, with this draft!

Turcotte, Bjornfot, Kaliyev, Fagemo, Parik, Spence, Nousianen. Unreal. Parik is having a great season in Spokane as well. All 7 of these, could possibly go before round 3, if the draft was redone.

Wheeler, excerpt on Spence:

Spence is already dominant at the junior level. Outside of a hard point shot, he has every offensive tool you look for in a modern defenceman. He’s an exit and entry machine with his feet, carving up the neutral zone and making opposing players miss with a series of fades and fakes. He’s mobile in all four directions, which helps him close gaps and pivot back on dumped pucks to win races without having to engage in man-on-man battles. He uses his stick as well as any player in junior hockey defensively, routinely breaking up plays with it. He can quarterback a power play thanks to excellent footwork, an ability to read the play and anticipate movement and a head-on-a-swivel approach to handling the puck.

Kind of like Matt Roy and Walker (to a degree) emerging and NOT the hopes of a higher drafted Forbort, Clague or Durzi emerging, a Spence or Nousianen may be the next Voynov / Visnovsky....but I think Clague still has a shot and Durzi may well someday too. The Kings will most certainly grab at least 1 (or even 2 D) in round 2, of the 3 second round picks this year as well.

It really doesn't matter after last years draft. we saw the Hawks pretty much win the lottery moving up 12 spots.they missed the playoffs by like 6 points. The Rangers jumped everyone too and picked 2nd. The Kings will still end up in the bottom five , and probably draft between 5-8 which is fine.

I got Laffy at the number 1 pick of course.

Then 2-5 is a toss up for me. Any of them can become an elite F.
Stutzle
Byfield
Raymond
Rossi

Then 6-9 are good - potential to be great players.
Drysdale
Holtz
Perfetti
Lundell

Kings need to stay in the top 5

I could see Raymond dropping due to lack of playing time. Really an argument can be made for any of those 9 at this point in the top 5. Pending the pundit you see different preferences with Stützle being the only one seemingly cemented in the top 5 outside the top 2. It would be sick getting one of those 3 yet if we win out or strong with the young players showing up.... I gladly take that and walk with anyone of the top 9 with joy. It is a great year to be bad.

It's not like teams will be jumping up and down every draft lottery. I'm gonna guess Kings finish as a black hole team, and there will be no movement in the lottery. It's really a conspiracy by hfboards to ensure Kings fan come back to the boards to complain about getting screwed again, so they can serve even more ridiculously, large annoying ads: I don't need to refi anything right now, or desire Chick-fil-A, but pole Vaulter Allison Stokke is very nice, kthx.

Agreed. Having the veteran core of the team, plus the young kids actually showing signs of life is incredibly important. You can't just continue to get your teeth kicked in for 164 games and expect that come next season the team will turn the page and forget the losing and lack of progress. Like they can flip the switch on winning. Even though the team this season is sitting in the 29th slot, they look improved over last season and the underlying numbers back it up. McClellan's system looks solid. It's vital that the players feel like they haven't forgotten how to win in bunches. The fact that the youth of Peterson, Vilardi, Anderson, Roy, Walker, Lizotte, Kempe and even Moore are contributing to the turnaround with the core veterans is what makes me 100% fine with the winning streak. If it was just 100% of the stale vets like Lewis leading the way to victory and the kids in the press box, I'd have a problem with it.

Definitely a year where we could see another Vilardi-esque drop out of the top 5-8 or so, especially since literally everyone but Lafrieniere comes with questions.

I just tried the Simulated lottery tool. And yes, the Kings went from the 4th pick to the 7th pick. Chances are this will not happen though. Only a 15% chance of happening, or whatever it is.

With the 4th pick, the Kings will end up with one of Byfield, Stutzle, Raymond or Drysdale. My guess will be Byfield.

i've run the simulation a bit myself and it seems the only thing predictable about it is that its unpredictable

seemed an equal amount of times that we were top 3, we were 5-7
