Lafreniere and maybe Stutzle. Byfield barely got ice time playing against 18 and 19 year old in the WJC. He one of the younger players in the draft. He won't be ready. Rossi is very skilled.
On our team, he likely gets the opportunity to drive the 3rd line.. depending on the team, Byfield is playing in the NHL next season

Watched a couple games. Byfield and Rossi are different in so many ways. Some lazy and tired impressions/thoughts:
- both get used in all situations, including the PK. Byfield saw more PK time, but Rossi was on a 5-on-3.
- both were used extensively on the powerplay. Byfield acted more like a quarterback. Rossi on the half wall.
- Rossi's skill is very apparent, and he tries to use a galaxy brain. He moves the puck in ways it can't be anticipated, whether it's with board play or chips and flips. His body language also looked like he was thinking of trying the Michigan. He's not a major puck controller, but knows where to put the puck.
- Byfield's body language looks a lot like Jeff Carter. He looks like he's coasting all the time, but he still has amazing speed when he shows a sense of urgency. What's amazing is even when it looked like he was hardly trying, he put up four points. While he does move the puck, he uses his reach to ptotect and control it. He shows good vision, and looks to be more of a passer than a shooter, but he's not as flashy as Rossi.

I think if I was forced to choose between the two, I'd go for Byfield. If he can amp his intensity more frequently, perhaps at the cost of less ice time (the video I watched him in was just short of 23 minutes, so he played at least 20 or 21), he'd be a monster.

Holtz - He seems like he has great potential to score goals in the NHL....but he does not sound like someone that drives the offense.
The Kings biggest need is a top 6 forward that can drive the offense...I want them to draft someone that oozes offense and creates
offense like a Kane, Kucherov, etc and after Lafreniere and Byfield, there are 4 that create offense at an elite prospect level -
Stutzle, Rossi, Perfetti and to a degree Raymond. I would prefer the Kings get Stutzle, Rossi, or Raymond if they fall beyond slot 2.
Who that is? I trust Yannetti. The Kings have 2 potential big goal scorers in Kaliyev and Fagemo....so I want to see them get someone
that breathes offense and is dynamic at that.
Well its not a given that Kaliyev, Fagemo even pan out and we have plenty of centers who can drive the play too so this is not an argument IMO, let alone our biggest need..

Holtz just came back from injury and has a goal and assist already.

Just turned 18 and scoring at 0,5 PPG in arguably the second best league.

This is why it feels like a Fool's Gold plan to think we will get one of the top 3 by finishing in the bottom 3:

"What we can say with certainty, however, is that it’s been nine years since the lottery drawing rewarded the first three draft picks to the respective three worst teams in the league. Last year, the Chicago Blackhawks won the draft lottery for the third overall pick despite falling only six points short of the Western Conference’s last wild card spot. In 2017, it was Philadelphia which went from bubble team to securing the No. 2 pick. That’s why we utilized the draft lottery simulator Tankathon for the order of first four picks while the current NHL standings determined the rest."

It's kind of f'd that the King's best odds are that they actually drop to 5th like last draft than any other spot. That being said it's why I'm excited about this draft as the top eight prospects look pretty dang good. I don't even bother doing any kind of highlight hunting for LaFreniere.

As long as we get one of Lafreniere Byfield Stützle Rossi or Drysdale ill be ecstatic.

Those guys are the same ones at the top of my shopping list as well. The two Swedes and Perfetti round out the top eight. I wouldn't be heartbroken with any of those three as well if the lotto gods are particularly brutal and the Kings continue to win a game here and there.

Kings have a higher chance to fall to 4th than any other spot (two spots)
Detroit has a 50% chance to fall three spots.

It's not until the 8th pick that you have almost as good to stay 8th overall as you do falling.

9th overall is when you start getting the best odds at staying put. Until then, you have better odds at falling.

I don't hold much hope to get Lafreniere. It seems just like a fantasy. Where I'm at is that I want to be in the position to get one of the other guys:

Byfield
Stutzle
Rossi
Holtz
Raymond
Drysdale
Perfetti

Outside of Lafreniere, I see this next group as all having upside and don't really get a sense that I would be disappointed in any of them. It feels like the skill players are deeper in the top 10 this year than last year. I like this group more as a whole than last year with Kakko, Dach, Cozens, Podkolzin, Zegras, Byram,Turcotte, Krebs, Boldy and Caufield.

As long as we don't finish in a position where a drop would bump us out of the top 8 players, I am fine. I have seen some mock drafts that have Lundell going higher but Lundell doesn't do much for me in terms of being a guy who will excel as a scorer. As for the Dmen, there seems to be a pretty significant drop from Drysdale to Sanderson.

Good list. I'd add Lundell to it

So I ran the tankathon 200x and here is what I got.

drop 3 spots and pick 5th 54x
drop 2 spots and pick 4th 59x
drop 1 spot and pick 3rd 34x
stay even and pick 2nd 25x
move up 1 spot pick 1st 28x

I'm pretty sure we are picking 4th or 5th and that I just wasted 30 minutes I'm never getting back.

5th: 27% (Actual odds: 27.9)
4th:29.5% (Actual odds: 33.3)
3rd: 17% (Actual odds: 12.3)
2nd: 12.5% (Actual odds: 13)
1st: 14% (Actual odds: 13.5)

Yes any one of these players are the exact kids that I feel we will get along with Lundell, as mentioned by King'sPawn. Lafreniere is a forgone conclusion so I would be absolutely ecstatic with any of these kids.

Could have just clicked on the "Pick Odds" link on Tankathon and saved yourself the trouble and 30 minutes.

Any of those guys are a win in my eyes

Yeah bottom line is that the odds are in favor of the Kings dropping draft positions than actually staying where they are or moving up. Same as last season. Of course the Kings are now winning games. Maybe they will move back a few slots and then somehow pull the Lotto win with lesser odds. That would be a welcome change of luck.
