We havent seen a kid that big, that skilled, that fast or that young since maybe Eric Lindros... His floor and ceiling are extremely high...
I saw Byfield in a few WJC games and also watched the CHL prospects game...Byfield was not so impressive...however, he's a 17 year old at the WJC, which is mainly 19 year olds and the best 18 year olds...
very few at 17 there. But, I expected to see him look good at the CHL prospects game....am more wowwed by Rossi. He's got a motor and elite skills and vision. Don't let the 5'9" be a detractor. He's at least 185
and built. He may be 5'11" 200, which is like Crosby or Matt Duchene. Kucherov is 5'11" 185. There are 3 players would not mind driving your offense. Ok, Duchene is 1B, but Rossi is not small., even if he tops
out at 5'10" . Not many CHL draft eligibles ever top 2.0 PPG. And a recent interview he's only talking about taking his team to win the OHl, and not a word about his points or the draft. Pretty impressed.
Am I saying he should go #2? I actually would feel better about his future than Byfield. Rossi is going to be a #1 center and 80 points, to me. Rossi is so poised and executes quickly and pretty flawlessly.
He looks like Turcotte's top plays....but Turcotte makes those top plays every 4-5 games (it seems) whereas Rossi does that stuff every shift or at least every game. Seen Rossi crash the net too. Pretty fearless. I would love for him to be a King!
Honestly, have not seen enough of Byfield...but have seen enough where I would want to see more and know all the other stuff, that scouts pour over. He may well have an exceptional career and
be the second best. The good news is, Yannetti and all the scouts do their work and will make the best choices. Just looking over this, gives me much confidence in them! Turcotte, Bjornfot, Kaliyev,
Fagemo, Parik, Spence, Nousiainen. I mean, DAMN !
