I'm going to admit that this might be a weird comment, but it would make for an interesting testament about increasing racial diversity in hockey if the Kings could put together either a three-man line or a complete five-man unit (like the Russian Five) with Quinton Byfield and Akil Thomas as the base.
Granted, it's probably a bit too gimmicky, but I think it would be a first time occurrence in modern NHL history if it did. If you could eventually pull it off then it means the league has achieved a diverse enough influx of new players to be able to do it without it coming across so unnaturally, which would be great.
And if Byfield and Thomas only manage to become a deadly dynamic duo I'd take that as a consolation prize as well.

I guess i am the only one who is on Holtz?
I would even trade down and get him + another asset.
This guy is the best sniper in the draft by far and we are already stuffed with centers.
After that i would focus on defenders.
Having Fagemo, Khaliev and Holtz as wingers centered by Villardi and Turcotte would be fun to watch for years

Holtz could well be the best sniper yet to claim "best sniper by far"? Just start following the draft or no clue about anyone not named Holtz such as Perfetti or Quinn?
I'd love Holtz yet much more prefer the game breaking speed the top 2 forwards bring with higher potential or a stud D in Drysdale. We already have a plethora of picks this draft. There is no need to downgrade a potential franchise pick for more mid/late picks. Whoever gets Holtz or picking in the top 10 this draft for that matter should be happy with their pick(s).

It's more of a crapshoot after #1 because there are widely differing opinions on #2. Several talented players could be chosen without an argument. If I am at #2, I would probably go Byfield because he is young, huge and has a great set of tools. If it's #3-#6 then I would be more than fine with Raymond, Stutzle, Drysdale or Holtz.
The next tier seems to be Rossi, Perfetti, Askarov, Lundell and Sanderson.

I might not be objective on this, because I watch a lot of OHL, but I really like Rossi & Perfetti, not saying take them over Stutzle, but they might be my personal #4 & 5 at the moment. Raymond being #6, Drysdale #7.

Absolutely not, he is my guy too. I would not even mind to pick him at two but it is better to trade down. Unfortunately you dont see that very often.

I'm starting to look further down in the draft at the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Our prospect pool is going to need some sandpaper and grit mixed in with skill.
I like Will Cuylle - LW (Windsor - OHL). At the moment, we had three 2nd round selections. I would have no problem if we used one on him.
If you recall, he fought in the Top Prospects game. Kid has bite and plays physical. Can chip in with offense as well.

The more I look at the kings Roster the more I'm leaning towards Drysdale. No top all around D to take over Drew's Spot in a few years. I love me some BFoot and some late rounders but If no Laf(which I don't expect us getting) perhaps Drys the guy. However, not going to lie some of the forwards are very intriguing.
Thing is you don't draft Drydale top 3 IMO. so we will see where the bingo balls fall.

Kings could certainly have a good, but tough choice to make if they end up with the 3rd pick. If you listen to the pundits anyway, the first two picks seems to be agreed upon by most.
Question of the day (this is not likely, but it is feasible), if the Kings end up having the #2 pick (not good odds), and the Ottawa GM ends up at #3 and say #5 or 6, would you offer to trade down to get two really good assets for not taking Byfield. OTT may consider this as you build teams around a skilled centerman with size, which do not come around very often. Kings would not do this with the #1, but would you consider it with the #2. I think Byfield will be a star someday, not a generational player, but a very good one. What say you armchair GM's?

@regulate if 3 and 5/6 for Byfield I'd personally jump on it. I'd even add our own 2nd to get that done.

Holtz - He seems like he has great potential to score goals in the NHL....but he does not sound like someone that drives the offense.
The Kings biggest need is a top 6 forward that can drive the offense...I want them to draft someone that oozes offense and creates
offense like a Kane, Kucherov, etc and after Lafreniere and Byfield, there are 4 that create offense at an elite prospect level -
Stutzle, Rossi, Perfetti and to a degree Raymond. I would prefer the Kings get Stutzle, Rossi, or Raymond if they fall beyond slot 2.
Who that is? I trust Yannetti. The Kings have 2 potential big goal scorers in Kaliyev and Fagemo....so I want to see them get someone
that breathes offense and is dynamic at that.

Yeah, I think Drysdale is going to be a reach if only for the fact that there's no other defenseman at his skill level, but there are at least five players I would choose before I take him. I'd much rather draft the best overall player available and if necessary, trade some of our other picks and prospects for an upgrade at defense. As it stands, we've got more good young prospects in the pipeline that we're dreaming about than we will end up having roster spots for.

The 'driving offense' desire definitely screams Stutzle and Rossi. Rossi is actually a damn fine passer like Thornton - always hanging on to the puck and not making a low percentage page or turning the page over. As I'm sure we all already know, Stutzle can make plays out of nothing.
I am on board with this however may bump Holtz just for the brooklyn 99 gifs
