im getting way too attached to draft picks here.. this is like in 2015 when I watched hours of every prospect and I was like " we need marner or barzal" then the hamburglar run happened and I was like " k, maybe barzal will drop" and then when he actually did I was excited, then oilers take griffin f***ing Reinhardt for the pick.

I've been hoping we could use some combination of Isle's 1st and some 2nds to move up for Jack Quinn, I'm having trouble seeing him slip past 12 though.

Haven't watched this much jr. hockey in years, even caught a few Mannheim games to watch Stützle. I have a hard time imagining disappointment at the end of this draft!

Wouldn’t be mad if we get our hands on QB

Brady Tkachuk-Logan Brown-Quinton Byfield

That package of size and skill would be reminiscent of the Legend of Doom

But since Q is a center, might as well use him there

Tkachuk-Byfield-Holtz

wouldn’t be too shabby

That is all thanks

Some notables for the NYI pick:
20. Dylan Holloway, 24. Vasily Ponomarev, 25. Jan Mysak, 26. Jake Neighbours, 27. Jacob Perreault, 28. Mavrik Bourque, 29. Seth Jarvis

Gah, apparently 12 might have been generous lol. Love Quinn's game. If one of our picks slips to the 8-10 range I wouldn't be disappointed grabbing him there personally.

I think it would be a good idea to look to draft a handful of power forwards in this draft and target the type of that fit with a Tkachuk lead team. Byfield would be a great target in the first round. I would also look to target players like Jaromir Pytlik, Will Cuylle, Luke Tuch, Dylan Peterson, Maxim Groshev, Maxim Beryozkin, Maxim Krovyakov, Bogdan Trineyev, Carsen Richels, Matthew Rempe and Nick Capone in the rest of the rounds. We could add a handful of big forwards with skill in this draft.

I like the idea. So will Aragorn. It's clearly the direction Dorion wants. Murrary made him promise not to pick too many small players.

Add Jake Sanderson and Dylan Holloway to your list. I know you already like Holloway as an NHL power forward, and Sanderson doesn't go out looking to hit but he can annihilate people. I know they're slated somewhere between our picks, but (I just finished watching Breaking Bad) name one thing in this world that isn't negotiable? I've been saying the best feature of having as many picks as we do is the freedom it gives to maneuvre to draft exactly the players we most want.

Yeah I like the idea of targeting bigger players but I am still interested in drafting smaller players that have a high compete level and play a 200 foot game like Marat Khusnutdinov and Seth Jarvis. I also am very high on Holloway and Sanderson. The goal should be to build a consistent identity for the organization, and that identity seems to be players that are tough to play against, will out battle the opposition and are committed to playing a 200 foot game. Being bigger helps with that but it certainly isn't an absolute. I think it is a great way to build a serious cup contender.

Kyle Mandleur LW 6'6 245 lbs OA1 had a goal and 2 assists today. He might be a worthwhile target late in the draft.

Couldn't agree more. It just happens that both of those prospects are great skaters who compete all over the ice.

Would be awesome if we went after Khustnutdinov or Amirov, but the Sens draft a Ruskie in the first round? Don't think so.

Bobby Strumm was a scout for Portland since 2013/14. Considering Jarvis played a year above his age group, Strumm will have seen Jarvis since kid was 13. They drafted him 11th overall in 2017. If we were ever going to target a smaller player, I'd bet this is it. High floor, high ceilling, honey badger, skates like the wind.

Crookshank and Kastelic are looking good as late picks. Plus Strumm would have had some input on Thomson, Søgaard, JBD and Tychonik. He has Dorion's attention.

If I was a betting man, I'd put money on Jarvis and Evangelista to the Sens. Evangelista is exactly their player for the second round. Safe, smart, plays with skilled players, some upside; and there's the Don Boyd connection in London.

Dorion looks up to Bob Janecyk and has great trust in him, despite everything. Janecyk and Fargher would have been mentors to him. I would imagine Janecyk is pushing for Sanderson, Smilanic, Brisson. I haven't seen any NCAA picks attributed to him, but I believe he was heavily involved in Tkachuk at #4 and Colin White at #21. Fargher and Strumm would also be involved on Holloway, since he came out of AJHL.

I have no idea what to expect for the high picks. Since 2015, what I would consider Dorion's first official draft in charge, in the first round we've picked once out of WHL (with a Finnish connection), once out of QMJHL (Maritime connection), once out of OHL, once out of NCAA (NTDP connection) once out of AJHL, once out of USHL (Maritime connection), once out of NTDP. No Europeans out of Europe. None at all in the past three drafts except Lodin who is looking bust. That will be an interesting storyline to follow if we pick in Raymond/Stützle/Holtz/Lundell range.

I'm becoming convinced they're planning to draft Lafreniere...
