Both Kaprizov and Weekes are represented by Theofanous so that's not happening in this case but Weekes might be helping with some public negotiating. Russo didn't exactly dispute what Weekes said either. He says the two sides want different things, it's going to be a tough negotiation, and the KHL threat in there. Weekes said negotiations have gone cold and the KHL threat is there. Either way, I'm here for the Wild drama.

I like what you have done here with 2 main exceptions and some adjustments. Move on from Kadri, shed that salary and use it for Denault. Give Landy 1 more year and drop the AAV (now you can afford Denault). Bridge Makar for 3 years which is probably what he wants. And just no to PEB. Love the guy but we are going to need something else at 4C. Lots of internal and external options. Wouldnt mind seeing a veteran player there.

Kadri is tough because I’m not sure how many teams would want to provide fair value for him. I personally would be fine with trading him for picks/prospects and using them to secure other good assets while clearing up cap space. I picked PEB because as a 4C as he’s a known commodity and would likely sign for minimum contract. I left wiggle room on all the contracts, I’m wishfully hoping Landy takes $6.5m. Makar I could see signing a Rantanen deal, but I still see there being a range of prices that total around $16 to $17m.

In fact it would be some high level stuff if Theofanous did a kind of good cop bad cop thing and had Weekes make it sound like talks have "gone cold" and then have Russo dial it back a bit. Exert a little extra pressure while still being able to act like he didn't exert that much pressure if Guerin gets annoyed.

Either way this is the same old story with most of the high level Russian RFA's. They dangle the KHL card. Everyone gets a little worried for a month or two. Then they sign a deal. The Stanley Cup finals haven't even started yet, they're very early in this process.

I’d argue Kadri isn’t stupid, just terribly undisciplined. However, as to this point this is one of those rare occasions when I might just be seriously in error.
