Below is a tweet from Mark Scheig (covers Columbus) and the second is a link to an article from Kevin Allen on Hockeybuzz.com. The site is run by Eklund, so enough said on that front, but Allen is legit. He was the primary journalist covering hockey for USA Today for over two decades.

If true, Brisson and MacKinnon must be putting in some work to try and get him here. Jones would also be taking a page out of the NBA playbook when it comes to stars and trades.

To me it wouldn't make sense for Colorado to trade away a top 4 D for Seth Jones, adding Jones to our D corps would be a "push us over the top move" so i can only imagine a trade would be heavy on the picks and prospects. It would also have to come after the XD so Joe knows how much cap he will have. If Jones has actually openly said this stuff then it takes a lot of leverage away from CBJ in trade talks. Maybe the Wizard Joe Sakic could add JTC to the deal

It would take some magic for sure, seems like it would involve too many moving pieces and this will already be a very tough offseason for the Avs in terms of contract resigning. But it would be an insanely good Defence if they could make it happen.

Either way though, the rumors I've heard about EJ's health make me doubt he will ever play for any long stretches again.

That would solve any cap issue for sure in EJ doesn't come back. Maybe we can pull a TBL -rade for Jones and play EJ in the playoffs

Well he’s open to being traded elsewhere but other teams know they shouldn’t offer Jarmo what he wants since Seth won’t promise to extend before playing out the season. Definitely gives us an advantage. Given the challenges they have getting players to stay, Girard’s contract could have additional appeal in the return

Yeah it’s not doable at all. EJ waiving for the XD to me suggests that he wants to keep playing (as opposed to the team applying for an injury exemption) so we may be stuck with that contract on the books

After what Timmins has show in the playoffs against the Blues/VGK you still pick G over him? Keeping Timmins is cheaper and G will be a good trade chip. Sure, Timmy health is still a concern but to me I rather keep Timmy and use G in a big trade. I’m probably in the minority in this though.

The more I look at the Avs on paper, the less sense it makes to keep EJ. That’s $6mil very important cap space for a guy who has missed the last two playoffs to injuries. I would love for him to be around, but he’s also the Avs highest paid D at the moment…

If we’re talking about that $6mil, I’d rather have Saad.

JTC, Dong and Bura are traded for picks.

Re-sign Makar, Landy, Saad and Gru.

Permanently add Ranta, Newhook and Kaut to the big club.

In what way? JTC, Nemeth and Graves are terrible. Bura is too one dimensional. Dong isn't bad, but is terribly over paid.

You've jettisoned our 4th and 6th highest scoring forwards and replaced them with nobody and Martin Kaut. You've got Sampo Ranta replacing what Matt Calvert does, and Tyson Jost replacing what P.E. Bellemare does.

You've got Erik Johnson actually returning for a top-4 role when he has played 3 healthy hockey games since March of 2020. And I love LOC but he is a 4th liner right now.

It's all fine and well to say we are looking to get rid of Donskoi/Graves/Compher, but go and get improvements. The time is not now to turn the team over to kids. This team is tremendously worse.

I’m all for all the big name suggestions but expecting all of Burakovsky, Graves, Donskoi and Compher to be gone is a bit much. Burakovsky isn’t going anywhere. He’s so good and so important to our secondary scoring. Time for people to get over that thought unless somebody is blowing Sakic away with an offer. He’s been Colorado’s best forward behind the top line by a mile these last two seasons and he’s in a contract year. I expect a huge season.

I'd argue his output is fine. It's his defensive game that needs to be shored up. He's a liability far too often.

Absolutely. It’s already damn good and he’s never played with a centre who makes players around him better in Colorado unless he’s filling in on the top line for a game or two. Paced 29 goals and 68 points last year. Playing with freaking Kadri. His playoffs were absolutely disappointing but it was the first poor playoffs of his career. He’s fine. He’s needed. The overreactions on here are getting out of hand.

We are not in cap hell next season, though. If Seattle takes one of Graves/Donskoi, the Avs will have some flexibility and if they're moving on from Graves/Donskoi/Compher types, you expect better players. Not rookies like Martin Kaut and Sampo Ranta. That's just asking for the team to take a big step back.

No, but we don't need the production. We need to not blow the leads we get. I believe a more defensive player will make us a better team.

Edit: I am mistaken about our cap situation. I thought we were in a much tighter spot. Cap friendly has us with 25 million going into next season.

I really have no idea what Saad and Gru will be looking for, but I do know that this will be their last big paychecks in the NHL. So I doubt they'll take much if any of a discount.
