Top 4ish LHD signed for 2 extra seasons and 2nd line Center who can actually re-sign with the team makes no sense? OK...

Overpaid bottom pairing D man with limited upside + 31 year old, soon to be UFA, inconsistent center.

Makes no sense for Buffalo.

I hope Sakic trades for Shane Pinto next year so everytime he scores a goal I can post this....

I remember when those first came out. The pinnacle of American engineering.
When I started high school, I was also working part time and trying to save up to buy a car, my cousin had one old ass beaten down Pinto he wasn't using so he gave it to me to get by until I saved up enough. I had to carry couple of gallons of water with me all the time driving that thing because it would overheat every 2 miles

I mean...that’s still a ton better return than what they’ve gotten the last two times they traded a top-level talent, so...

Legit though, Avs were in spots to select all those players, but instead we walked away from the draft with just Rantanen. Really wish this team was better at drafting, would have solved a lot of the depth issues.
Window is going to be short since we can’t draft

Kadri has value. I know we all hate him right now, but that contract in a flat cap world will be worth real assets, especially since it's only a year long. This talk of exposing him is nuts, if you really want to get rid of him, trade him for futures, then use those plus some of our own to trade for a better 2C that fits our style more.

Personally, I'm skeptical that Sakic is going to make a snap decision like that, but that would be the only way to go if we're determined to get rid of him.

Nobody is saying Sakic would make a snap decision...with Bednar doing different things to Kickstart Kadri, I'm quite sure that Joe is aware of how Kadri has been playing all year.
I'd definitely protect him, even if he's no better than he has been up until now this season.
Kadri is a 2C, which as we've discussed over and over is worth a fair amount to some teams and even more teams because of his deal. Yeah, I think Kadri pretty much sucks and would be curious to see what he'd fetch. But the hit doesn't change a single thing as far as protection.
There's still a crap ton of hockey to be played. Every single body is needed to get 14 more. Kadri can still play his way out of this in the playoffs.

As disappointing as that play was, I don't think Kadri wanted to lay that hit like that. Did he want to unload? Yeah. I just don't think he meant to head hunt and looked bewildered lookin up at the replay.
It was careless and sucks for both teams, but I want to see what he's made of now because he's a marked man even more now than he was before.

We have always known teams are going to hit the Avs no matter what. That's a perceived Achilles heel.
They just need to keep slippin those hits and keep their heads on a swivel.

After tomorrow night, we'll be sitting at 3-0 and looking to put St. Louis in the rear view. Just ride it out, boys. This is what we've waited all season for. Enjoy it, brothers!!! Go Avs!

Now, trade? Sure.

I don't need to see the transcript...I literally hear the words being bleeped out in my head as I watch it.

I say this every time I have an opportunity, the NHL is a better league when Patrick Roy is a part of it. This is fact. He needs to be involved in the game at the NHL level: give him Parros' job for the lolz, give him a comfy chair and plant his ass in a studio to breakdown and discuss plays during intermissions...I don't care; but having St. Patrick involved in the NHL makes the NHL better than it is without him. He's a true advocate for the game and his passion for excellence is absolutely unquestionable.

They're going to protect Kadri. Like it or not he is, at present, still the 2nd-best center on the team (and anyone who says it's Jost is wrong). Unless they swing a deal in advance for someone like Reinhart, Kadri is playing at least one more season in Colorado.

Kadri needs to go after his selfish act. This team has talked about how they're determined and focused to make a deep run, and an act like Kadri's can jeopardize everything. I don't think Sakic is gonna like it and with Newhook NHL ready, I won't be surprised if Kadri is traded next year

They don't necessarily have to trade Kadri to a team for a direct 2C replacement. They could trade Kadri away for futures and then make a separate trade or UFA signing for a 2C.

I could be wrong but I don’t think he’ll be on the team next year.

Yeah, move Kadri for some futures, then flip those plus a couple of our own to Buff for Reinhart. That could work. Maybe even make it a 3 way trade like the Duchene deal and cut down on the hassle. Kadri directly to Buff makes no sense for them if they're tearing it down, especially for Reinhart's return, but involving a third team looking for a cheap one year boost to their C depth would make sense for all parties involved.

Seattle could be an interesting trade option if Sakic wants to move Kadri. They will have an unlimited amount of flexibility roster and asset wise in terms of what they can offer in a trade, and they'll also struggle to find a better C in expansion than they could if they trade for Kadri.

Perhaps but if Kadri's contract is a big part of his value, wouldn't it have more appeal to teams who have limited cap space and not Seattle, who has almost complete cap space?

I knew they should've traded for Carter, he's lighting it up now. Exactly what this team needed not more not less.
