Trading Kadri now is like trying to sell a car after you sprayed "KILL THE PIGS!" on the side after a drunken stupor. You really need to find the right buyer.

Unless you sell it to Ted Nugent to go on one of his machine gun pig massacres. Probably get extra.

It's cute that you seek me out for Tyson Barrie posts. How does someone that used to actually play for us live in your head rent free?

Weird.

You seem pretty engaged, and that is cool.

But once upon a time this franchise let Forsberg and Foote go.

Maybe you don't know who they are...

But let it go...

Benning sounds like he’s getting getting enough rope to hang himself. Sakic should go out of his way to make a deal with a GM that is dumb and desperate.
I don't know how much centre he's been playing since arriving in Vancouver, but I would take J.T. Miller here for the 2nd line in a heartbeat. I'd also take Tyler Motte as a Matt Calvert replacement.

The man has had seven years of rope and will now get an eighth. If that ain’t enough to hang him, who knows when that’ll be.

But yes, teams should get ready with trade offers and possibly offer sheets. That’s fresh meat right there. People are already saying J.T. Miller is likely out the door.

So the general consensus is to not protect Kadri now since Seattle won't take him, right?

If so what's our new protected list looking like?

What ridiculous consensus is this? Seattle would 100% take Kadri. He's having a bit of a down year or a rough stretch but he has a lot of history backing him up and has a fantastic cap hit. Even if Seattle didn't want him in the line up he'd be super easy to flip to another team. This whole "Kadri isn't going to be protected" narrative needed to die before it started.

Yea Kadri has decent positive value, we're going to trade him if we don't keep him.

Ideally trade to recoup some picks (that we can flip later) or for another 2C with one or two years left under contract (not easy to find).

That's why I was thinking about flipping him for Monahan retained earlier. Only 2 years left under contract...he's not a good 1C but could be a 2C here.

I think if the Avs decide to part ways with Kadri, they'll trade him for a low end expansion eligible forward (in order to meet minimum requirements) and a draft pick.

Is it possible to work out a deal with Landy on the hush hush but not have him sign it until after the expansion draft so that we can protect an extra forward?

Why risk it? Don't screw around with your captain. Treat him like he deserves to be treated because Seattle can throw a lot of money and term at him setting him/his family up for life more than the Avs can. Don't galaxy brain this. Just protect Landy and lose one of Compher/Donskoi/Graves.

Yes, but the league is frowning on that and will probably make an example of someone. Protecting an extra forward doesn’t seem worth the risk.

The Avs are already meeting the requirement with Compher and Donskoi. Why add another Compher/Donskoi?

The better thing to do would be to trade for picks or players who will be on their ELCs after the summer of 2023.

The Avs are meeting the requirement with Compher and Donskoi currently. But if Sakic decides he wants to move on from Kadri (and protect Donskoi), that means he either needs to flat out expose Kadri or bring in another forward to expose.

Kadri will not be left unprotected.

The Avs will not circumvent the expansion draft rules with a handshake deal with Landeskog.

I really wish these two talking points would die off already. It’s just a waste of time.

I cannot foresee either of these two contingencies coming to pass even though I’d prefer the latter. Sakic will not risk breaking up 9296.

As much as Landeskog’s play has sometimes annoyed me greatly, he’s indispensable both on ice and off.

Jesus Christ the Avs weren’t injury prone enough for you!? You want them to set the NHL record for man games lost to injury?

Kadri will not be left unprotected although I could see him potentially being traded to make room for a UFA Center. Watch out for Pittsburgh if Kadri is made available.

I kind of forgot about Coleman being a UFA this summer, someone that Sakic would definitely be interested in.

Bennett sucked too didn't he? Monahan for 2 years (retained) is exactly the kind of realistic target we should look at.

None of them expensive UFA's like Danault or pending UFA's like Reinhart. That would never happen.
