Rumor: 2020-21 Trade Rumours and FA Part VIII: Intra-Playoff Edition?

Legit though, Avs were in spots to select all those players, but instead we walked away from the draft with just Rantanen. Really wish this team was better at drafting, would have solved a lot of the depth issues.

I don't think you can blame them for missing out on Cirelli or Kaprizov, especially since a lot of people liked the Beaudin pick. Aho was a bigger miss, but Roy was still heavily influencing draft choices at the time and there is no way he was down picking a player like Aho. IIRC a lot of people really liked the trade as well to move down since we only dropped 8 spots and gained a 2nd + 6th.

Swap Kadri for Monahan 2M retained? Give 'em a sweetener for the extra year.

Flames are going to make some big changes..I could see them being interested in an Eichel + Kadri combo at center next year.
Gross. Sean Monahan is about as useful in the playoffs as expired smelling salts.

Would love to trade for Reinhart, he would be a perfect fit. Trade Kadri to recoup some assets.

Reinhart either becomes a permanent fixture as our #2C and Newhook transitions as a winger, or if Newhook flawlessly transitions into our #2C Reinhart is still a great winger.

This could even work similar to the top line where Reinhart is officially the RW but plays a similar role to Landy on the top line in regards to centering, allowing Newhook to be sheltered somewhat.

It would cost a pretty penny. I don't know if it would get it done, but I'd guess something along the lines of Helleson + Kaut/1st + 3rd would be the base. After that, it would depend if Buffalo sees any value in Francouz or Compher. If Sakic really likes Reinhart, maybe swap Barron or Timmins for Helleson.
I think Buffalo will have better 1st round picks offered than the Avs.

Hyman would be awesome, right shot and plays essentially like a rich man's version of Calvert. I doubt TO is going to let him go.

On a team that has a lot of guys who aren't great defensively, Hyman's value is immeasurable. They'll pay him whatever he wants.

Ya I agree, it would most likely take some luck for Reinhart to end up an Avs (i.e. Buffalo liking an expendable asset like Graves, Compher, or Francouz) or Reinhart refusing to sign a long-extension with most teams.

I guess it depends on what Buffalo is looking for. I don't know if the Avs could throw together a couple prospects and a first rounder to make it work, or maybe even a decent (but not cheap) roster player. That feels more like quantity over quality though.

Reinhart would be a great add, but I don't think he'll come cheap at all. THEN, they gotta sign him.

Kaprizov was a big miss IMO, we drafted Mironov and Boikov with our 4th and 6th round pick that year. How did they miss Kaprizov when scouting Russia?

I will say Graves definitely seems like he’d be an attractive piece for Buffalo. Would give them a solid ~top 4 D that has 2 more years on his contract and could be trusted on the PK.

He wasn't that good at the time. There were 135 players picked before him and every NHL team passed on him multiple times, Minnesota got lucky.

Boikov was in the Q, but the Kaprizov miss was as much about people thinking he'd never come over as much as anything. He was thought of as a 2nd-3rd round talent that would never come over due to his situation in Russia. He was very highly thought of there and right after his draft, he signed a 3 year deal (most thought it would be 5++ like a certain top Russian prospect coming up). Teams get gunshy when they don't think they can sign Russians... even though they almost always come over if they are good enough. And in truth he was a top 10 level talent.

With the rumors Rhino wants to play on the west coast he might be willing to extend with Wankouver. I suppose he could be the back option for Vegs if they got out bid on Eichel.

Were I Adams some one year deals and flipping them to a 3rd team at 50% retention would be a good way to bank some futures. Say Beagle as a throw in from Van and then 50% back to the Caps.

Oh, Jesus, if they could center a deal around Graves then it should be done five minutes ago. Do it!!!

To be fair, Kaprizov was a big miss for everyone about five times in that draft.
