Ha! I’ll take Dooley over Hoven any day of the week. He is so annoying.
Each to our own I guess but Hoven is a top guy.

He recently helped me out with an issue I was having, stepping in simply because he was aware of it and was in a position to assist. He doesn’t know me at all and asked for nothing in return. I’m very grateful for it.

I’ve actually really enjoyed his podcasts, he’s very passionate about the team and always gives an honest opinion. I don’t always agree but he continues to voice his view even as his ties to the organisation have grown stronger. I respect that and DB is equally forthright which makes it a good listen.

They are definitely dialled in to things and are a great source of info.

Vince Dunn allegedly available according to Friedman. The ask is a first round pick. I wonder if a 2nd/decent prospect could get it done. This is a move I think the Kings should consider, to help speed up rebuild/retool.

Left Handed, young(24), solid offensively and defensively(some struggles here lately)and has already won a Stanley Cup.

Only downside is that’s he’s due a decent pay raise soon. But we do have the cap space...

I think he'd be a good ad to the blue line.
Given what this reporter suggesed , with Detroit as a partner, a 2nd , plus 22yr old defensive prospec Blues asking for a 1st and getting one are 2 different things. Most likely, it'll be a 2nd with a prospect or player will likely get it done.

t And he has this as well

At 6-foot, 203 pounds, Dunn isn’t some small offensive defenseman on the fringe of the NHL. Through 232 regular season games, he has 85 points, with 28 of them coming on the power play. The 56th pick of the 2015 draft has a positive influence when he’s on the ice, as evidenced by his relative-Corsi% of 5.2. What this means is that Dunn increases his team’s share of the offensive chances by 5.2% whenever he’s on the ice. With a career average time on-ice (TOI) of 17:03, it’s fair to wonder if he could do more with a more prominent role on another team.

He carries a $1.875 million cap-hit, and will be a restricted free agent (RFA) at the conclusion of this
season.

On the other hand, hopefully they moved on...

I like his dad. However Hoven Jr is missing something. I'm not sure what it is.

Just for fun. Since the 06-07 season, out of 15 different teams, the 20-21 Kings team is currently tied for 1st in GF(with the 17-18 version), 14th in GA(only ahead of the 06-07 team), 1st in PP%(ahead of the 09-10 team), and 1st in PK(slightly ahead of the 11-12 team). 12th in points%, slightly behind last year's pace.

Dunn is known in St Louis for getting schooled 1 on 1, just like Grundstrom did. Apparently it happens often and drives StL coaches and fans nuts.

Is the cancer around DeAngelo worth picking up a RH D-man? Honestly maybe, I feel kind of gross being on the fence about this lol.

I honestly believe if you have strong locker room, there won't be any issues, with him.
For kings...do Kopi, Brown, Drew, Quick and Carts provide enough leadership? I don't know.

Looking at Rags team....i don't think they have that outspoken guy that could out him in his place (other than clocking him...lol) Kieder maybe?

The Kings have a pretty strong lockerroom and I doubt they'd take his shit if he started anything. The issue is whether it's worth even dealing with that potential.

he has (reportedly) been a problem since his two juniors teams. It's not worth it

Also this
I'd rather be forced to watch that last game against the Ducks 47 more times than have that shitbag on the Kings.

I’ll give you hug on that fence.

I can see a scenario where the Kings take him in a trade, something like Moverare for DoucheAngelo and a 1st round pick, or a prospect like Matthew Robertson or somesuch.

Play him a few games to fill the void until Roy or Walker return, and if there is any trouble, just waive and bench him.

Then buy him out in June. His buyout is very cheap at 1/3 the contract.

Get value for minimal risk.

Doubt the rags would do it as they will just buy him out themselves and not lose anything.

DeAngelo also been through three different NHL teams, and all of them washed their hands of him. That's a red herring.

- He was a Tampa Bay first round pick in 2014.
- Tampa Bay trades him to Arizona in 2016 for a second round pick.
- One year later, Arizona trades him to the Rangers.
- And now the Rangers waive him and the rest of the league passes up on claiming him.

Reminds me of how much of a headcase Avery was where he was kicked out of the Kings' locker room (and almost got into a fight not only with teammates but an assistant coach as well). He gets dealt to the Rangers and does well there and hit the jackpot when he became a UFA, then Dallas signed him and instantly regretted it and quickly got rid of him.

He went back to the Rangers where he continued to be a headcase, and they tried to get rid of him as well when they tried to assign him to Connecticut. Some guys are just born as assholes. Just look at the interview with Tony DeAngelo's father and you'll get why he is the way he is.

Brown probably checked out when the prior regime took the C away. Kopitar isn't an in your face guy on the ice, so probably not off the ice either. Carter doesn't seem like that leader guy. We know Doughty isn't. Quick is pretty much an old man yelling at clouds at this point, plus he's a goalie. It's one thing to say I'll carry you guys in my back next time, and another to force people to behave.

This isn't their team anymore anyway. I don't think the Kings are the right team for anyone that might stir the pot. Not today. They've proven to be far too fragile in the last half dozen years. What few grizzled vets there are, are just squishy.

And a contender willing to trade a defenseman in season? I don't know. Maybe it's Seattle related, maybe it's cap related, but the Blues aren't going to have a chance every year forever.

The Kings have nobody, not a single soul capable of handling a personality like that in their room. Kopitar is quiet, Brown has never commanded any respect from anyone, Doughty and Quick are hot heads and Carter has one skate in retirement. They can't even handle "good" kids without setting indifferent examples. Quick is the only person I would trust to Kreider that kid when needed, and he will be around for what, 2 more years tops?

These are the same guys that needed outside leadership to be brought in, how does anyone think that they will somehow handle one of the most divisive personalities in the game?

This to me is the biggest red flag. Ignore how people feel about all the other background stuff, of which there's plenty--several teams in need of talent dumped the guy in short order for pennies on the dollar. Hell, the Rangers gave him what, 10 million after 50+ points, and they're already sick of him? In what f***ing galaxy do the Kings take a risk that the Stanley Cup Champion, a perennial bottom dweller with need for RHD talent, and another big market rebuild decide is too much to bear within a year or two?

I'm sure Lias Andersson has some stories

Blake plays 4-D chess and uses DeAngelo as a team building moment as the young guys rise up to eventually kick him off the team.

As an aside, nearly everyone wanted Voynov reinstated and back on our blueline but nobody wants to touch this kid. I'm not saying they should pick him up or anything but it's just an interesting observation. I bet there are several posters that would be totally fine in picking up a 50 point defenseman on the cheap but don't want to get crushed on here.

Sounds like another factor is that St. Louis would need to carve out cap space once Tarasenko is healthy to play (apparently skating, but probably a few weeks from being cleared). Cap makes you do odd trades, reminds me a little bit of San Jose trading Christian Ehrhoff for futures because they went over the cap to get Dany Heatley.

Hell no to DeAngelo. One Rangers reclamation project is enough.

I hope it's a good sign that the kings did not claim him for free. the kings are at 47/50 contracts so needing to send a contract the other way shouldn't be a reason not to waiver claim him but still want him.

Dunn makes no sense, give up assets for the right to lose another asset in the expansion draft? So it would be a #1+ Walker or Clague for Dunn?

That said, no way Dunn gets a first. Only teams with cap space have lottery firsts and are not going to give that up for a bottom pair d that has middle pair upside? I mean he is more or less what Amart was 4-5 yrs ago?
