Hey I come in piece as the Kings are my secondary team(I live in LA) behind the Caps. The Kings have a fairly young d-group. Would the Kings have any interest in a trade for RD Nick Jensen? He has 2 more years after this season with a $2.5 million cap hit. Also, what about forward Richard Panik?

Are you thinking that Rob Blake reads this board?

I don't think there's interest in either. With Roy and Walker, Kings RHD needs are solved, plus they have Grans, Faber, Spence, Durzi marinating. Panik doesn't solve anything either, may as well play the youth rather than give up assets.

Holy shit man not even a month? Dude is Wolverine.

Combine that with Roy not even going on IR, these guys are monsters.

Just hang in there a few more games hopefully? to get Roy back and then things will look a little better.

Blake has to be as disappointed as we are that Maatta has been our worst d-man, this was an experienced NHL vet expected to be a stabilizing presence in just such a situation, instead you have to bury him on the bottom pairing and still pray because it turns out Mark Alt is the steadier defenseman.

There's a good chunk of players on the current Kings roster who will likely be gone and forgotten about over the next couple of years. I can identify at least 10 players right now who likely fall into that category:

Maatta, Amadio, Wagner, Moore, Lizotte, MacDermid, Frk, Luff, Athanasiou, Alt.

On top of that, you have Carter and Brown with two years remaining on their deals, and Quick with three years left, plus Iafallo is an impending UFA whose long term status here is undetermined...

There's going to be a lot of turnover coming up, and the next generation of Kings need to step in and play pivotal roles pretty soon. The holdovers and rotating list of castoffs aren't going to be keeping those spots warm for very long.

that's a good sign, hopefully it means his schnoz took the brunt and didn't cave in his orbital

it's basically wait for swelling to go down, make it so he can breathe normally, then slap a fishbowl on and you're good to go right? send it

If he can’t outplay Mark Alt then I don’t know what to say. The Kings should say ok we lost 2 top 4 defensemen for a few weeks in a shortened season, time to see what the kids have.
I wish someone would ask one of the coaches post game about Bjornfort and why we are seeing Alt and why Strand got the call up over him
@All The Kings Men any insight on this?

I don't get why Toby is not playing...he played really well in WJC, and was decent last year when he got his cup of coffee

They're obviously protecting Tobi but how long is that going to last or can they stand to wait? I like that he's wearing a letter for the Reign (at least during 2 exhibitions I think) at 19 years old, says something, but Maatta seems completely lost, Alt is not an NHL player and MacDermid is a 7th at best. MacD scores a goal and now he thinks he should be the 3rd man up the ice during his shift? REPEATEDLY I saw that. Too many times I see a forward and his defense partner back trying to stop a 3 on 2 while his lead feet is trying to recover. Matt Roy needs to get healthy ASAP.

Forest through the trees. This year is not about making the playoffs but rather development. Bjornfot will get NHL games this season and they prefer it to not be because of emergency and when the blueline is a complete wreck. They have a plan and they are going to stick to it. That said, maybe he's in next game but they aren't going to be burning a year off of an ELC because Walker is out for a few weeks.

Everyone wants to see the most talented roster in LA but that isn't the point of all of this at the moment and it is short sighted. I'm just excited for these cups of coffee we are going to see throughout the season while knowing that a lot of the flotsam on this team is not going to be here much longer.

They aren't going to add more players with minimal experience if they don't have to. Our blueline is as inexperienced as it can be right now. They are going to lean on any vet, even Alt, and not get rid of them if they can afford to so that these guys can develop properly and ease in. They are as-is one of the youngest teams in the NHL right now.
