That's not the point I'm making, it just seems lost on many Kings fans how productive of a player Iafallo actually is. What are you guys expecting? If his numbers are good enough to be a top six scorer on what are considered to be some of the best scoring teams in the league, then what does that make him?

Talk about an underappreciated player. Guess some won't know how valuable he has been until he's gone. The guy actually puts on consistent effort and was one of the better Kings in the latter half of the season, and he is continuously disrespected by many Kings fans.
I like Iafallo, I just think he’s more fit for the bottom six...

I think it stems from when he first came into the league and put up a heap of points on the first line, but didnt score for nearly 40 games or so.

He figured it out but some had already written him off and hold a grudge because they dont think he deserves first line duties.

Without any additions to the roster, we could be looking at this potential lineup for 2021:

Iafallo-Kopitar-Brown
Frk-Vilardi-Kempe
Grundstrom-Carter-Luff
Moore-Lizotte-Wagner

Maatta-Doughty
Anderson-Roy
MacDermid-Walker

Quick-Petersen

I figure Lias Andersson might finish up his season in Sweden, but whenever he joins the Kings he could possibly play alongside Grundstrom and Carter. Carter is also a question mark, but with the season set to resume around January, he may be ready to play by then.

Some young dmen could also push for that bottom defense pairing spot, depending on the opponent and matchups. Clague needs to step it up, or he'll be overlapped by someone else in the pipeline.

It's also very likely to see Quick and Petersen splitting up the goaltending duties.

I see that team has being a borderline wild card/lottery team. A lot of their success will be dependent on the veterans playing at a high level, and the younger players have to contribute. Maybe it's the optimist in me, but I have some hope in this team. At the very least, they won't be playing a boring brand of hockey.

Agree with this line-up. Though Amadio will probably be in the mix. Neither him nor Luff is waiver exempt if I recall.

FYI, the guy some Kings fans are clamoring to sign, Taylor Hall, scored 16 goals this season. Iafallo scored 17 goals. Not sure why some Kings fans want to sign another bottom six forward with numbers like that.
I agree that would shouldn’t sign Hall. But you can’t clump a guy who’s 2 seasons from scoring 40 goals to Iafallo...

Sure, but that 39 goal season was also an anomaly for Hall.

I know this is surprising to most Kings fans because they're used to players having down years, but Iafallo's numbers have gone up every season he's been here. His shooting percentage has gone up, his points per game has gone up year over year. Him playing in the top six isn't holding the Kings back.

I hope they re-sign Iafallo. Never understood the frustration some fans have had with him, he has been very good here and on a steady incline. Its not easy playing with Kopitar, those are hard minutes.

Hoping we get to see an Iafallo - Turcotte - Madden line at some point in the very near future.

Kings have spent a lot of money getting rid of bad contracts. I realize our top prospects need 1-2 years of pro experience but it’s time to give the older kids a shot. No free agents for another 2-3 seasons.

This next year is going to be tough because no top prospects are ready or can be in the NHL and we are stuck with another year of Kempe, Iaffalo, Lizotte and Wagner but whatever it is what it is, hopefully Grunstrom and Luff step up.

If our top prospects are Jack Hughes bad in the first year, still better than 10 forwards on the current roster.

That’s the problem with those missing 3 years of picks post cup.

The only thing I’m interested in watching during the 20/21 season is Vilardi’s development, and whether or not Doughty responds to the hockey world basically telling him he’s no longer a top defenseman.

I’m fine with the trades that cost us number one picks. Will take two cups any day. Blackhawks going through the same thing. I think two years we are good. This year, though, I don’t want to see a crap year. Let’s give the kids a chance. Screw Moore and Luff.

The way the Kings develop they won’t let 18-19 year old make the team and I’m glad. Like Lombardi said, a kid can never be in the AHL too long, but many kids are brought along too soon.

The only prospects who could make it are JAD, and that’s because he spent one year in the A already. And Fagemo, who is already 20.

I wonder if the Kings should have taken a shot at bringing back Wayne Simmonds for a 4th line winger spot. Still need to have grit in the lineup, and someone willing to drop the gloves as a forward. Can't bet on MacDermid to play every night.

Simmonds gotta be at least as good as Clifford, right? Some scoring, hitting, swagger, and a few punches. Too late now, I guess.

No, current day Simmonds is quite a bit worse than Clifford. Simmonds is a borderline NHL player who often looks done.

Some people around here don't realize how far Simmonds has fallen off, he would be a whipping boy here the second the rose tinted glasses wore off.

Frk was scoring at a nearly 30g pace with the Kings, too.

He's a one trick pony but for a team who has had trouble scoring goals, one could do worse.

Iafallo is fine next to Kopitar, imagine if he were on a scoring third line with Vilardi/Turcotte/Byfield and another good winger. Hell he might even be a fine winger for that Kempe-Vilardi-Frk trio instead of Adrian.

AI is a complementary winger that compares favorably to Alex Killorn.

Hoven is reporting the Kings are set to sign Troy Grosenick, a 31 year old goaltender who was 20-9-3 with a 2.29 GAA and .920 sv pct with the Milwaukee Admirals (a good team) in the AHL last season, and Mark Alt, a 28 year old 6-4 RHD man who was captain of the Colorado Eagles last year. These are two-way depth signings for the organization that will play in ONT. Grosenick will team up with Villalta in goal (Ingham likely to the ECHL) and Alt will replace LaDue as the veteran D man on the right side to go with Durzi and Strand. I recall Alt scoring a hat-trick against the Reign in ONT two years ago. Big presence on the ice. This could mean a couple of things as far as the D. 1) The Kings expect Clague has a good shot at the NHL roster since he normally plays RHD in ONT 2) The Kings will return Clague back to the left-side on D if he is sent down to the Reign and/or 3) they expect Strand and Durzi will continue to rotate and compete for playing time. I suspect it's either 1 or 2.

So what does Ontario's tentative blueline look like now? Taking a stab at it, I'm guessing:

Bjornfot-Strand
Moverare-Durzi
Hults-Alt

Presuming both Anderson and Clague will be on the pro roster, and no further additions are made.

Educated guess

Bjornfot or Clague-Alt
Brickley-Strand
Hults or Moverare-Durzi
Phillips

Might be a battle for playing time with some of the new guys, although I suspect Hults and Moverare, once they adapt, will be hard to keep out of the line up. Bricks has been injury prone, Phillips has had little chance at the AHL level so far.

If Clague comes back to ONT and they want to put him back on the right-side, you could also have

Brickley-Clague
Moverare-Alt
Hults-Durzi or Strand
Phillips
Bjornfot (NHL)
