There's a reason offer sheets don't happen often, and why of those that do happen, they don't work out for the team offering the contract. It's an avenue of talent acquisition that isn't really worth thinking about.
Which is also another reason I said it was a long shot but it is the only way imo to him. Again I never said it would work only its a option to get him as I was answer that very question when I first posted. If there is no way they would trade him and that is what i would say about him. The only other way is to offer sheet him. I have been saying continuously its a long shot but it is a shot.

Why are we even thinking about Dahlin?

It’s going to be so awesome when Edmonton buys out McDavid because he refuses to play for anybody but LA, but Blake won’t trade for him. Then signs him for league minimum.

So we’ll have future 1C and 2C with McDavid and Byfield along with future 1D and 2D Dahlin and Sergachev.

Our top line would still be Iafallo - Kopitar - Brown

Quite possibly one of the dumbest decisions in franchise history. Strikeout on Luongo, and they make a desperation move for one of the least competent netminders we have ever seen.

Forget what the rumor was that LA offered but I remember thinking it was better than what Florida ended up with. They wanted Bert though.

the kings don't have their 3rd round pick in 2022. So the only offer sheet that's realistic is for a cap hit of $10,276,830+ which is 4 1st round picks. That would be a team crippling deal. Buffalo easily matches the lower offer sheets that don't require a 3rd.

That's fine, someone's gotta do the heavy lifting. Imagine Kopitar line playing as a 2nd line with all the hard matchups while letting MCDAVID loose

It's why I scoffed at Avs fans saying Kopitar isn't worth it, imagine Kopitar as a 2C behind Mackinnon. They absolutely win that series and more.

The habs trading sergachev was a wtf were you thinking move.

Don't forget they also gave up prospect Ryan McDonagh for Scott Gomez!

Sounds like they were after Vince Dunn last year but the cost was too high. I don’t think STL intends to keep him. Travis Sanheim is another guy to look out for.

Needed that French Canadian Drouin, Montreal needs to get over that.

Did you see that point when Drouin was on his leave and Danault was hurt. It was like the first time ever the Canadiens weren’t going to dress a French Canadian and it caused such an uproar the mayor and the premier were upset.

Have you been to Montreal?

at the time was seen as a win/win league wide. The habs had D but need forwards, Drouin was seen as elite forward prospect. The lightening had Forwards but needed D, and Serg was also high end prospect.

Definitely has worked out better for Tampa.

I wonder if Drouin may be worth a look for LA if they cannot get another top 6 forward. He does not check a lot of boxes for me, but Montreal may need to add a sweetener to him and he could be a candidate for a bounce back.

Happy Dan Cloutier day everyone!

That 2007 draft was so astoundingly bad. Only two second round picks in that draft were worth half a shit: PK Subban and Wayne Simmonds.

Vancouver selected Taylor Ellington with our second round pick that year, who played 21 games in the AHL.

Funny enough though, that 2009 third round pick made its way to Buffalo in exchange for Steve Bernier to the Canucks, and Buffalo used that third round pick to select Brayden McNabb.

So in a super-roundabout way, we sent Hudson Fasching and Nicholas Deslauriers for Dan Cloutier.

to be fair, we practically also traded for Doughty and Hickey when we got Cloutier.
