I still bet we sign a 2C. Some under the radar targets I wouldn't mind signing:
- Mikael Granlund
- Phillip Danault
- Eric Staal
- Alex Galchenyuk

And on defense:
- Alec Martinez
- Mike Reilly
- Erik Gustafsson

Oh, and... Jack Johnson's available!

I like Alex Galchenyuk

Alec Martinez is an ideal fit for the LHD spot. I'm sure he'd be happy to come back, at an age where a 3 year contract in the 4m range gets it done. A known quantity without breaking the bank with term or dollars. By the time that contract ends we either have prospects ready to take his spot or our drafting has failed us.

Much rather him than paying big term and dollars to a late 20s ufa and hope that he doesn't regress

I think Marty is going to cost more than 3 years at $4 million. My guess is closer to 6.

If we target a UFA D I think it'll be Oleksiak, Hjalmarsson, or Cole.
I say this with respect but I hope none of those defenseman become Kings Yes they do give us the size we need but we also need more offense out of our defense. In my opinion we need offense more then size Also the 3 of them are not in our preferred under 26 objective stated by Blake

This is why I listed these players. Our D core lacks experience. We don't have a Willie Mitchell, Rob Scuderi, Matt Greene, Robyn Regehr, etc.

I do agree but i think players like Ghost are better veteran types. This team is going no where till we have at least one more offensive defenseman. The defenseman you listed have limited offensive abilities

I think the issue is that Anderson, Roy and Bjornfot are all similar, little to no offense guys. So everything has to come from Doughty and Walker. Not an ideal situation.

Exactly what I am saying. Unless we get someone to push them down the lineup or we trade them we will go no where till we do.

I agree....but I am leary of getting a guy like Ghost, that is small and not that great.
I wish Clague got a real chance. Several games he activated and pinched, making some great plays.
He cut through the zone super quick, like Makar does. (not saying he's Makar, but Clague cut through the zone like him)
I don't think Kale made 1 bad call, when he activated...almost every time, he got a shot or made a good play. He took sharp angles,
often cutting in the middle of the ice. I have never seen a KIng defenseman do that, since Zhitnik. Voynov was not as good at it.

He was not bad defensively....some say, he's not good defensively in Ontario. For whatever reasons, some play better on the Kings than in Ontario.
Maybe it's the structure and the player not taking as many chances and really bearing down on being responsible.

If I'm Seattle, I'm taking Clague.

I totally agree about Clague I hope (if he stays) that he gets a chance at 2nd pairing minutes. He can play both side so weather it is Bjornfoot or Roy that gets pushed down a run (prefer Bjornfoot as it would push Maata out ) The kings need offense out of our defense bad.
As for Ghost I don't necessarily mean him per say but someone that can generate offense from the defense position like him. The others that have been mentioned are to defensive minded imo.

It's just hard to have such an inexperienced left side of the defense. Anderson, Bjornfot, and Clague combine for a whopping 3 goals, 24 points, and 118 games. I think we might see Anderson take a big step forward next year though.

I don’t think Clague gets a shot in LA.

I still like AA better than the rest of the fillers on the team.
I like him better also. He has more talent but didnt have chemistry with anyone besides Carter. This may factor into letting him walk.

Hard pass on trading for Seth Jones.

If you have perused his wife's Twitter account then you'd understand that California is the absolute last place on Earth his wife would allow him to sign.

This deal would be Milan Lucic all over again.
I agree 100%. We need left handed defensemen, not right.Jones right now makes no sense in the current situation of the teams needs.

His wife dont mean shit.

Let's. Go. Jones.

Would love to have him on the Kings.
You might want to return that Jones welcome mat you paid for,he is not coming. There is no need for another right handed defensemen on this team at this time...

I think Kings are in no rush to trade for a defensemen right away.Look for them to be patient looking for the right one to use the assets to aquire one....

AA and Walker aren't getting the defenseman they desperately need.
I disagree teams need young cheap players who can give them the nhl mins Both walker and aa fit this to a tee As we saw with the Nashville trade. Teams would rather get something for a asset then lose it for nothing.

I agree no rush to (only rush is a personal one cause I want one now ) and it also will be at a fair price I am sure that we will do one before next season starts It is only a matter of when and who. I could see us drafting a defense that will play in 3 years. Then going to get a veteran to fill in for the 3 years with some offensive upside.

Part of the problem with all these long term plans is that the guy you want might not be available for ___ amount of time. You have no idea when this perfect #1LD will be there to get. Same thing with the draft. How long do you suck to get the perfect player? If it's 10 years, oh well, it must be done?

If Jones is out there to get, and was willing to sign a contract, you can't let Roy and Walker stop you from getting him. You don't go crazy to get him, you don't bring him in without talking to him for just a 1 year run sight unseen, but you don't outright dismiss him either.

When you need talent, you need talent. You get the talent, and then worry about the future later. Again, same idea with the BPA in the draft.

But Columbus is going to protect Jones if they don't trade him by then. Seems like Nas was going to have some issues in the draft. Not to mention Jones being a better player than Arvidsson today. Big minute RHD vs. a winger.

AA, Walker, and what else? You can't assume Clb can or will screw up what needs to be a good trade for them. Maybe they will ultimately screw up the trade, but before that happens, you have to go in with the thought that the Kings have to give up something that you don't want them to give up. AA and Walker are the additions to make the money/cap hit/roster spots work. They're not the foundation to a trade. Not for Jones anyway.

Where as I agree with you if jones is truly available and open to signing ( both have to be true or no to the trade) with us. then u go get him However I like my idea of drafting a defenseman and signing a veteran to play likee elder or go get Ghost I don't think we add to the walker aa combo Hell i think we maybe able to get him for just AA but i diagress. There are other ways to get that top pairing defenseman. I think Tampa has cap issues but that has been talked about else where so ill let the whos and what fors out in this post

Pass on Jones. The assets are not available right now for a defensemen making 5.4 mil and asking for much much more when he signs a new contract.Jones becomes a UFA after this up coming season.Lets add he has had two back to back down years.
