My response to the trade (in the trade thread) was that I'm reserving judgement until I see what happens with any extension... If they don't get him re-signed before UFA, I don't like the trade... If they sign him to an extension, but it cost us $9 mil per season, I don't like the trade...

No the 'net loss' for acquiring Trouba was the 1st rounder plus Pionk...

These are separate transactions....

If we don't trade for Trouba then we count that first rounder as a valuable asset, right?

That we traded Kevin Hayes, who was an asset to teams leading up to the trade deadline, for that 1st rounder does not negate the value of that assset (the pick) when later included in a trade...

The trade was NOT Hayes & Pionk for Trouba Lemiuex... Yet that's what fans want to claim because they think it makes us look better...
 
What are the odds Kaliyev is still on the board at 49?

Wouldnt mind trading up from 58 to try to grab him and Dorofeyev in the 2nd
 
Why do fans seem so overwhelmed. For years fans have been praying for a top flight talent and now we got one. However most of the night fans were angry we didnt get a mid or late first. I mean we had 20 but we got Trouba who most rangers fans have wanted the past 4 years. I know our fanbase is never satisfied but I thought Kakko and Trouba would make this a stress free night lol

Whatever the precise articulations for why teams are shying away, I think our management is one of the teams that are going to pick someone else even if he's dropped considerably based on whichever consensus mock draft.

Ohhh I get it. You don't understand the terminology "net"

Net worth is the same as assets minus liabilities, and the same as total equity; other short-term assets. These might be securities, business equipment, and so on

Sigh , are you a glass half empty kinda guy ?

Worst case is Trouba can be flipped for a 1st next yr plus a player . They easily get that back but I won’t come to that. He’s getting 7x8 mil per and that takes him to only 32
